The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

We’re just a bunch of girls (and one boy), who want to lose weight.

That’s how this website was formed.  Except THIS website, isn’t just about us.  It’s about YOU, too.

It’s about us.  It’s about doing this incredibly difficult thing, weight loss, and having a place to share our triumphs and our frustrations.  We’ve created this little home on the internet for all of us to feel like we’re not so alone in this battle of weight loss.  Weight loss is SO HARD.  It is our hope that we make it easier.

This site is going to be filled with information, which we are hoping will fuel your weight loss.  Don’t just check in once a day, check in five times a day.  Don’t just come here to read about someone else’s weight loss, share yours in the comments.  This is OUR community.

Not only will we have our fair share of personal stories, recipes, reviews, etc, but we will also be hosting weight loss challenges.  Our first one begins NEXT MONDAY.  It’s called the I’m Dreaming of a Light Christmas Challenge, we’ll have weekly weigh ins, where YOU will have an opportunity to share with everyone how your journey is going.

So, tell us, right now, are you with us?  How much do you want to lose?  What would you like to see on this site?  We can’t wait to hear from you and we can’t wait to share this journey with you.

  • Count me in. I've been talking about losing weight for as long as I can remember but haven't really done anything. Now when your daughter starts saying things like, "Mommy, you're tummy is fat", It's time to really start moving. I'm hoping that with the accountability I'll find the motivation to get stepping. Thanks.
  • Count me in! I have joined a gym and have been working out but I want to step it up and this is perfect for me!!
  • I'm SO in. I joined a gym about 6 months ago and was really good for a while and actually lost 12 pounds in the first couple months. But since then I've sort of fizzled and really need a little renewed motivation. I'd love to loose another couple pounds before attending 2 weddings this holiday season. My overall goal is to loose at least another 10, and hopefully another 20 pounds before getting pregnant again.

  • I'm in, although I'm in good shape, I need to get lean. The joints want 20 less pounds to cart around! So I'm going for 20 to start and then another 10 after that!

  • I used to be with Beth on Tales from the Scales and so excited that you all joined together to start a new site. I definitely want in! I'm happy to say that I am down to my last 10 although probably my last 18 after today!! Let me know what I need to do to be counted. Can't wait for the new challenge.   • I had my son almost two years ago and I weigh more now than I did then! I've been wanting to do this for a while now, I just need to get up and do it! I would like to lose 30-40 pounds. I've never had to lose this much, so it's going to take a lot of hard work!
  • Last week I was pregnant and thinking that next Christmas I'll be at 120. Then I had a miscarriage and, looking on the bright side, I can start losing weight now. So I'm in. I need to loose 10 pounds.
  • Echoing the rest - perfect timing!

    Ideally, I could stand to lose 60lb. but knowing how this thing works and knowing that for me losing weight in the winter is SO much harder - I'll start with a smaller goal first and say 10 lbs for the first challenge.
  • The site turned out great! And I am in! A couple of years ago I did WW and was at my lowest and felt great and confident. Slowly the weight crept back on - my muffin top is my biggest enemy right now. I'm trying to lose about 10 pounds.

    Oh my! This site couldn't have started at a better time. After a bad dr appt on Nov 11--I've been watching what I eat, but don't have any support. I run a daycare--so I'm at home by myself. I have lose 120 lbs the right way.

  • What a great idea! I need to kick my pop habit to the curb. And get healthy before I stroke out before I'm 40 years old.
    I loved what you said in your post Beth, about not dieting or counting points, but getting rid of the bad habits. It sounds much less intimidating that way, but still I know it is hard.
    I lost 30 lbs. on WW last year and have more to lose, so I'm excited to give this a go with you girls! (And guy!)

  • OK Beth, I am SO IN!!!! The site is awesome and the timing is perfect for me too! Not so perfect because it is the holidays; but perfect because my husband just entered a "Biggest Loser" contest with coworkers at work - and I WANT TO BEAT HIM!! SO, I will join you gals. I love to eat. I love to eat. But, I need to love to exercise. Hmmm, that's difficult to say. I too am going to log back into WW for the first time in MONTHS! Wish me luck...thanks for the great new site :)

I love that Brian is on bored (man, you drink a lot of Diet Coke. If you must have all that, I suppose your plan to drink water first is the smartest way to go!).

    Cool website!

    I lost 50# a couple of years ago. Due to a knee injury and inability to run like I used to in order to maintain my weight, since September I've gained 7 back. Not cool! Tired of my tight jeans, I'm back to tracking calories.

    Oh my gosh I love it! I love Brian's first post! Alright, I need to lose at least 25 lbs. Today is the day. I'm still in bed but am getting up now and doing some sort of exercise and will try not to think about the Dr. Pepper in my fridge.
