Okay y’all, my name is Christy, and I’m a snack-a-holic. Seriously. That’s my major downfall when it comes to dieting. When I went this route a few years back, the 100 calorie snack craze wasn’t in full swing, so my options were seriously limited. Well, they weren’t really limited, but it was a serious pain to have to weigh and measure to figure out how much I could have. Most of the time I just ended up pulling chips off the scale and eating them until it equaled 2 ounces. Talk about counter-productive.

If you go to the grocery store today, you have literally hundred of choices in the prepackaged snack arena. I’m not saying prepackaged snacks are always the way to go, since fresh is always best, but let’s not kid ourselves. Our lives are lived on the go. Whether we’re working outside of the house or wrangling kids all day, it’s easier to grab a quick snack out of the pantry and throw it in the mommy bag, than to actually wash and cut up some fruit. But I digress. I’m really here to talk about snacks, because that’s what I’m obsessesed with passionate about.

Okay, where was I? Oh yes, prepackaged 100 calorie bags of heaven. YUM! Here are a few of my favorites:

Newly discovered: Newton’s Fruit Crisps. Crunchy pillows of fruit and cookie deliciousness. OHMYGOODNESS. Go out and buy some NOW. Seriously. You won’t regret it. They come in Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry. I think I’ve seen Cherry too. Once serving is 2 bars with 100 calories, 2 grams of fat and 0 grams of fiber. That equals 2 points if you’re on Weight Watchers. Not bad at all! I usually grab one on the way out the door in the morning and I always have a couple of packs in the diaper bag. Kids love them too!

Next up is another Nabisco product: 100 Calorie Pack Wheat Thins Chips Minis. Double yum. Whole grain toasted goodness in a little bag! They are light and crispy and great with sandwiches or soup. I actually like to float them in my Campbell’sHeathly Request Tomato Basil soup. So good, with 100 calories (obviously), 3 grams of fat, and 1 gram of fiber – another 2 pointer.

And last but not least, I love me some Fiber One Chewy bars. My favorite are the Oates & Chocolate. They are a substantial snack (meaning they fill me up for a long time) packing quite a punch with 35% of your daily fiber (9 grams!) recommendation, 140 calories and 4 grams of fat. Again, 2 points if you’re a Weight Watcher.

They give me energy and a full feeling that lasts for several hours. I think they’re a great breakfast option or even an afternoon snack. And who doesn’t love chocolate chips? I seriously have several boxes of these, and keep them in the diaper bag and the glove box of my truck. My son even loves them.

So there you have it. If you were to come to my house now and dig through my pantry, you would find each one of these items. Okay, several boxes of each of them since I tend to buy in bulk. And I wouldn’t mind if you came over and dug around either, especially if brought coffee and you offered to watch my kids so I could take a nap or get a pedicure. 😉
