The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC – Eating Right Because Our Jeans Are Too Tight

For about ten seconds after my alarm went off at 5:10 this morning, I was wondering who in the world set my alarm to go off that early.  Oh, yeah.  I did.  Why?  Oh, yeah.  I was told yesterday, “everyday is a work out day now.”  To the one who told me that, um, thanks.  But she’s right.  Thursdays are a busy day for me.  Once I leave the house for the day, I won’t get home until around 11:30 tonight.  I know that if I didn’t do the Shred this morning, then it wouldn’t get done.  I can’t have that because I have so many of you counting on me shredding with you.

The first thing I noticed as I was getting my work out clothes on (with my eyes closed still) was that I’m not sore.  I haven’t been in the “Oh.My.Dear.God.” pain that some of you have been in, but I’m a pretty fit gal. My body is used to going through the punishment seriously awesome thing that is strength training.

On day three, I was still sore, but it was getting better.  Well, mostly better.  My abs were hating me.  A lot.  And, may I add, that as far as the actual work out goes, day three was by far the hardest.  For me, anyway.  I don’t know how I got through the push ups without falling yesterday.

So, where was I?  Oh, yes.  I’m not sore today.  And the work out was a little easier.  I’m following the girl  (is that Anita?) that is doing the modified versions of squats and stuff.  Some of you may be surprised to hear this, but it’s true.  I do the modified versions sometimes.  I do go as low as I can, but I’ve had knee troubles in the past, so when I do leg work, I focus strictly on form.  If you feel any sort of pain in your knees during leg work, please please  please concentrate on form instead of how low you go!  You should focus on form anyway, but especially if you have knee problems.  One thing that I have found that helps me is making sure that all of my weight is back on my heels when I do squats.  You’ll hear some trainers say, “keep your toes light!”  So, I repeat this to myself during squats. What you’ll find that by focusing on your form, as you get stronger, you’ll just naturally go lower.

What I really love about this work out is how quickly the 20 minutes goes by.  Don’t you think it goes quickly?  I also enjoy the cardio segments.  I wish they were longer.  I’m quite proud to say that I can do  four or five push ups on my toes before I have to drop down to my knees!  I still hate the ab segments.  I’ve never liked doing ab work, but today I did it and didn’t cuss.  Much.  And I giggle just a little to myself every time I hear Jillian say that that girl is “kicking herself in the ass quite literally” during butt kicks because that’s totally what I’m doing.

All in all, day four is not bad.  Not bad at all.

So, now I want to know how YOU are doing?  Is it getting any easier?  Can you do any push ups on your toes yet?  Can you see any improvement  on any of the exercises?  You are still shredding, aren’t you?  You better be!
