Sister Spotlight!

A Sister Spotlight is an award given to a Sister (or Brother) who has been recognized by another Sister (or Brother) for doing something excellent. A Spotlight can be given for anything from being a Rock Star Sister to giving the Most Awesome Comment Ever. Also, Spotlights are a surprise and can pop up at any time. Nominations are always open, so if you feel like a Sister has done something extraordinary for you or another Sister (or Brother), just email your nomination to me at april@shrinkingjeans.net!

So, now that we have the business part out of the way, onto the fun stuff!

SISTER SPOTLIGHT for Reaching The “I Can Do This” Phase of Weight Loss

We all go through different phases during our weight loss journeys.  There is the “I Want to Lose Weight” phase.  This is where you know you want to lose that weight, but you may be unsure or too overwhelmed to start.  Then, you have the “I Work Out So I Can Eat Whatever I Want” phase.  I went through this phase for quite a while before I figured out I needed to change my eating habits.  There’s also the “Yo-Yo Dieting” phase.  I don’t think that one needs much explanation, and I’m pretty sure most of us have been in this phase at least once.  These phases can happen at different times for everyone. Except the last one.

The last phase is the “I Know I Can Do This” phase.  It is an accomplishment in itself to reach this phase.  Words almost couldn’t express how I felt when I reached this phase. Every one of us will come to the point when we know that we are strong enough, and we have all of the tools we need to kick weight loss in the rear.  And Nancy has reached this phase.

Christy brought my attention to this one night when we were chatting.  In Nancy’s own words she says:

I believe that I can do this and it is the first time that I can really say that and mean it.  I’ve tried a million times before, but my heart was never in it like it is now.  The sisterhood is one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time.

I also asked Christy to give me a few thoughts about Nancy.  I think you’ll see by reading Christy’s words you can see what makes Nancy such an amazing and special part of our Sisterhood!

  • She’s so funny!
  • She’s a mom 4 times over and a grandma of 2, and she shredded with us. That, to me, is AMAZING!
  • She’s got some serious motivation.

Nancy, congratulations on your Sister Spotlight!  Our very first Sister Spotlight!!

Sisters(and Brothers), please give Nancy those pats on the back that she deserves!  And keep your eyes peeled.  You could be the next Spotlight…

    I'm stunned! Thank you so much. To have this happen today is especially wonderful. It's been a bad day. My principal is retiring and I have the wake of a very dear family friend tonight. I came home from work and found an email from April and then I found this award. I am so proud to be a member of the Sisterhood. You will never know how much you all mean to me. I especially need to thank Christy. She has gotten me to the point that I am at. She inspires me and pushes me on a daily basis. I now know that I can do this and when I go back to school in ten weeks, people are going to have to look twice before they know it's me. Thank you so much. You certainly made my day. Lastly, Team Red rocks! You girls are the best!!!
