Day 5 of the EA 30 Day Challenge

September 4th, 2009 | Comments | Posted in Uncategorized | by lisa

I’ll keep this short and sweet……

Are you guys still keeping up with the EA 30 Day Challenge?  How’s it going for you?  Are you enjoying all the leg exercises from today?  Doesn’t that burn feel gooooooood?  Maybe not.

I have an observation or two:

  1. I am working out on the intensity level.  The first half of the work-out, I think to myself: Wow, this isn’t that difficult.  I am not sweating enough.  I might need to do some additional cardio exercise after this. And right after I have those thoughts, the 2nd half of the workout hits and OMG, my legs are burning, I am sweating, I am breathing hard and shhhhh, don’t tell anyone, but I love it.  Please don’t hate me.
  2. Is it just me or is my wii remote/sensor a little squirrel-y?  Meaning sometimes, my reps aren’t being recognized by the wii and I end up having to do twice as many.  It annoys me to no end to be told to “hold still” or “curl my right arm again”.  Yesterday, I about lost it and almost gave up.  But I didn’t.   I stuck with it and I think I have figured out the correct way to do the bicep curls and have it recognized.
  3. Am I alone in thinking that the red stretch band is too stretchy?  Like some of you have already mentioned, I think I just might need to go purchase a tighter resistance band.
  4. My favorite of today’s exercise was the last long run.  I ran HARD for those short sprints.  I like the alternating between the sprints and the kick-ups/high knees.  I almost wanted to do it twice.
  5. Is everyone enjoying this challenge as much as I am?

Give me a shout-out and let me know how you are doing!

I am loving this challenge too! I feel like I am getting a great workout now that I am doing the medium intensity. I HATE the run!! I hate that they tell me I am going "too slow" but I am working hard to try to increase my speed and keep it up. I love that the routine changes every day!

I am working out with the 30 Day Shred DVD too so I am getting a double "whammy" and my legs are absolutely KILLING ME!! But I am having a blast and it's fun! Thanks for the challenge!ki

  • My remote/sensor has issues as well. I was getting it a lot yesterday during the bicep curl/shoulder press combo. I found that if I just wiggled the remote a bit though, it would then recognize where it was at so I didn't have to keep repeating extra reps.

I also thought the stretchy band was too stretchy. I actually didn't use it at all yesterday. I used a set of 2-pound dumbells with a handstrap instead (kind of like these: http://is.gd/2TxjP). It worked much better for me.

I'm definitely loving the challenge so far. Commenting here and posting my results on my blog each day has definitely helped keep me accountable for stitching with it! :)

I don't always get the sensor working right either...sometimes if it's a leg thing, it's where the band is...too high, it doesn't move enought, too low, it moves too much...

I swear everythime my "trainer" tells me I'm not doing it correctly...

As for the band, tie it shorter...I have had to adjust it a few times to get it right...or I step on it so I have less band...cause I need less for the bicepts, and more for the shoulders...

I think it's fun...I'm amazed at how much it makes me sweat!!

how awesome that you're enjoying it!! :)
  • Yes, the sensor is funky. I played tennis yesterday and it wouldn't recognize my left swings and it yells at me sometimes when I'm where I'm suppoed to be.

The resistant band is too loose for lower activites like bent over rows... others it's not too bad on... trust me, it is working, I'm on low intensity and I feel sore the next day!
