Day 17 Giveaway::Nike+ iPod Sport Kit**UPDATED**

[ 94 ] 11/17/2009 |

******The winner of the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit is random number 8:  Nancy!!! That would be our Bacardi Mama :) Congrats girl! Email Christy when you get a chance with your shipping info!!******

MA365Seven weeks ago, the only time I ran was when my daughter was coloring on the walls or touching my Mac. Or maybe if I had to pee real bad. For reals.

Now? I love to run.

It all started when we decided to take the 5K Challenge with EA SPORTS Active. I was iPod-less and knew that I’d probably need one to help me get me through the runs. I was looking forward to training, but I honestly didn’t think I’d enjoy running. Since my birthday was coming up and my mom asked me what I wanted, I picked an iPod Nano (in red!). While I perusing the Apple site, I noticed another gadget I was certain I couldn’t live without.

I’m a gadget girl.

So I added this sweet little gadget to my cart and eagerly awaited it’s arrival. And arrive it did!!

And now? I have arrived. I have arrived as a runner, and I feel like I owe it all to the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit. What? You think I’m being dramatic? Well, I’m not. I really do think my success in running hinges on the feedback I get from Nike+. When I’m running, it speaks to me (literally). It tells me how far I’ve run, my pace, my time, and how much I have left. I can choose workouts based on distance, time, calories, or choose a preset. As I run, I can get on demand info, and sometimes pushing that center button and hearing my stats helps keep my legs moving. Plus, it lets me choose a Power Song, and when I feel like I can’t go on, I just have to hold the center button down for the song that will keep me going! That song is currently Pump It! by the Black Eyed Peas.

AND, when I get home, I can sync my iPod up with the Nike+ website and see an awesome graph of my run. Plus, it keeps track of all my runs and I get TROPHIES. Enough said, right?

Here’s the goods. Go on over and read all about the awesomeness of the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit. Because even if you don’t win, you’re gonna want to get one. Trust me.

Here are the requirements for the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit:

  • iPod nano, iPod touch (2nd generation), or iPhone 3GS
  • Nike+ shoes (or any old shoes with shoelace pouch, which you can get here)
  • iTunes 9.0 or later (available via free download)
  • A Mac with a USB 2.0 port and Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later; or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows 2000 (SP4) or XP Home or Professional (SP2)
  • Internet access and a free Nike.com account

And here’s how you can win:

  1. Leave a comment telling us about a fitness hurdle you’ve overcome. Yeah, it’s kinda deep, but we know you’ve got something!
  2. Follow us on Twitter and tweet about the giveaway!
  3. Join the ‘hood. It’s our very own social network!
  4. Last but not least, subscribe to the Sisterhood! You don’t want to miss a thing, right?

Now for the fine print:

  • This contest is open to US and Canadian residents.
  • Contest ends today, November 17th, at MIDNIGHT Pacific time.
  • Winner will be chosen via random.org and announced tomorrow. Please be sure to leave your email address so we can contact you! Winner has 48 hours to claim prize, and unclaimed prized will be relisted for giveaway.

You have to pick someone else if I win, but YEAH!! So glad this is one the giveaways. I love mine and love the graphs you get on nikeplus.com. Also? love that you set a distance or a length of time you want to run, and it gives you interval updates of how far you've come and how much more you have to go.

  • Tobey13

How about a fitness hurdle I'm trying to overcome? I'm a walker by nature and am really trying to become a runner. Maybe not a marathon runner but a 5k runner who can run and keep up with her kids. To soften you up a bit more, the gang here at the 'hood has really inspired me so far to try running more and more!

My biggest fitness hurdle has been exercising consistantly as a lifestyle. My aha moment came when I joined the sisterhood and you made me believe that this was something that I could do. Who would have thought in March when I joined that I would have run a 5k in November. Certainly not me. Being chosen for the 1st Sister Spotlight was the total icing on the cake! You guys are the best!!

To date, the biggest hurdle that I have overcome is running for 4 minutes at a time. I hope to get back to that and pass it multiple times. I would love to run a whole 5K sometime, walking it felt great, I can't imagine the rush I would get from running one!

My biggest hurdle is that I am actually exercising again and trying to be active. I guess it has been more of a mental hurdle than actual physical one. I knew I should be and wanted to be but not enough until I started with the hood and reading everyones blogs and just the knowledge that there a lot of others out there just like me. Thanks ladies.

  • JustDeena

My biggest fitness hurdle right now, is getting past my own excuses. I want to be working out, but it seems everything is in my way. However each day I look back and almost always see time where I could have fit that time in! So I need to quit making those excuses!

The biggest fitness hurdle I overcame was when I blew my knee out two summers ago. I was already registered for a 10 miler that I ended up having to drop out of and missed running one of my favorite half marathons later that summer. I'm happy to say I'm back to running after months of physical therapy.

I have to say that I am really proud of myself and the hurdles of my fitness that I have overcome… I still have more but the ones that I have beat down are HUGE to me. When I first started exercising a while back I would get a constant pain in my left foot when I would walk… I went to the doctors, I saught PT etc (you know the drill)… but it turns out that my sisters at the shrinking jeans knew better than all the drs etc. it was my SHOES!!! since having gotten shoes that work for my feet it has been a lot easier to work out etc. The second big hurdle was that of finding the time… I have gotten good at making fitness about my kids and myself… but it all comes down to my sisters at the hood….THANK YOU for your amazing support

  • CarolynC

Starting to run! Now, just to build up some endurance … I can see the feedback from the Nike + being very helpful with that! :)

  • reganshale

I would LOVE one of these!
I have had many hurdles in my fitness journey. I suppose my favorite was after I had my second child. I began running again, as it is the only thing that really helps get weight off of me. For motivation, I ran in various 5Ks. At many of these, there was an old lady who passed me midway through the race and beat me each time. I mean, I was 35 and she had to be 70! Finally, in a race in my own town, I beat her! She passed me at about the 2 mile point, but I knew there was a big hill coming up. I train on this course regularly, and can do the hill. Well, I powered up that hill past her and many other people who had to walk the hill, and I finished strong. Not only did I beat her, but I placed in my age group! LOL. I was absurdly proud of beating a woman twice my age, but it really did feel good!

My fitness hurdle is to start exercising again…at all. I'm starting with situps. I used to be able to knock out 100 crunches in not time. Two c-sections later, I'm able to do 20 and it isn't a pretty sight! Oh well, at least I'm doing something again. It's a start!

  • zaviaz

Biggest fitness hurdle? The decision to just get up off the couch and move. Yeah, I know it sounds like nothing but the decision to just get moving was HUGE!!

I wonder if this could motivate to even try running??!! Anyway, my biggest fitness hurdle is exercising EVERY SINGLE DAY in the beginning of my journey. I'm still TRYING to do this, although it has been kind of sporatic the past 2 months. I was a definite couch potato with 80+ pounds to lose but I did it ….I'm down 30 pounds now due to exercising and eating better.

  • Christy_TheSisterhood

You can also use it for walking, but I definitely think you should give running a shot :)

  • http://cellowingnut.wordpress.com/ Natalie

My biggest hurdle is just getting out the door to exercise. Between work and other commitments, I have a hard time finding the time and motivation to get make time for exercise. I know I need to, but something always comes up and I put it off… unless I just decide no matter what to go do it anyways, which is what I've been doing since joining this group. Thanks for the motivation I can't seem to find it on my own!

My biggest hurdle was running longer than ten minutes. I have never been a long distance runner and I really wanted to start jogging and I started out at about a minute, then 2 and so on. Now, I can jog/run for a half hour!! I am so proud and I would love to run in a 5K someday.

  • http://gettingbackto.blogspot.com/ Nicole

After taking part in the disaster that was the Chicago Marathon of 2007, I truly got a complex about running. I just kept equating it back to how awful it felt to run that day. It took me a good year to get back in the saddle! Yes, a year! But, I'm running again! Yahoo!

That is awesome Laura! I was watching a show with Alison Sweeny from the Biggest Loser, she uses the Wii as an addition to her gym work out and it helped her loose even more of her baby weight. Great job!

  • tirah

The biggest fitness hurdle I’ve overcome was winning my families biggest loser contest. It really isn’t much to brag about though. There were only 4 of us and I only lost 12 pounds. The closest weight loss to me was 5 pounds. I didn’t do nearly as well as I should or could have because I didn’t have the motivation. But because I won I bought myself a new iPod nano Product Red. I’ve been eye balling the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit but I haven’t gotten myself one. If I don’t win this one it will definitely be the next thing I treat myself too.

I really want the Nike+Ipod kit. My biggest hurdle is keeping up with exercise. Several years ago, I went to the Y religiously after school (work), but now that my kids are in middle school and my daughter is in multiple sports, getting out to exercise is very difficult. I started running a few years ago, was never great and was constantly plagued by injuries, so now I don't really do that either. I'm walking a bunch and hope to train for another 5k in the spring when the weather is better. (Michigan is just too cold and snowy for me to be brave enough to walk or run outside once it gets nasty as I have a totally stupid fear of falling.)

Great job with the 30 pound loss! You definitely should try running. The Couch to 5K program is really good-just make sure you get fitted with good-quality RUNNING shoes before you start. Walking shoes won't cut it. Good luck!

Lets see. Fitness hurdle. How about just realizing I do not and probably will not ever be the same size I was before I had all those kids. It just might not happen, so I'll stop waiting for it to happen, and just work with what I've got! (and get up and workout at 6 am before all those kids wake up!)

Great giveaway. A fitness hurdle I've had to overcome? Going from being in the best shape of my life after just finishing my first half marathon to being diagnosed with a semi-serious illness and not remembering an entire month of my life. The yearlong treatment that followed took care of the sickness, but left me with 30 extra pounds and having to essentially start back over in terms of fitness. Hard work, determination and about 9 months later, the pounds are almost all gone and I'm feeling like I'm almost back to where I was fitness-wise before I got sick.

Finding time! I work full time and my husband is in his last semester of school so he is never home in the evenings or on Saturday. I feel like a single mom to our two girls. I'm exhausted and just can't seem to find the time. I'm trying really hard to use my lunch break at work to exercise. I'm successful some of the time. I'm hoping to make it a habit soon.
