For me, health is all encompassing. Meaning, for me to feel truly healthy, I have to be committed – body, mind and spirit. If my head’s not in it, I will fail. End of story.

Clearly, being in a good head space is good for EVERYONE. For me, being in a good head space means feeling like my life, in general, is somewhat orderly. Yes, I am an aspirational neat freak. Meaning, my house is usually utter chaos, but I obsess over ways to be organized.

Did I mention I’m Type A?

So, when Real Simple magazine came out nearly nine years ago, I immediately fell in love. If you’re not familiar with Real Simple, it’s a beautifully put together monthly tome filled with wonderful ideas for organization (home, life, work), simple and delicious recipes, gorgeous yet sensible fashion and beauty, product reviews and creative solutions for day to day challenges.

Every month when it comes in the mail, I dive in ravenously. Yes, I’m a complete nerd and get all excited to find out the most efficient way to clean your house. Or read peanut butter reviews. And I know I’m not the only one!

So, today, I’ve got a yearlong subscription for Real Simple up for grabs! You KNOW you want to enter! How, you ask?

The best way I find to simplify is to make lists. Get everythign done on the list, then I can do random things. Otherwise…important things can get ignored!

Get rid of clutter! One thing I do is sort the mail before it gets into the house, so I immediately throw out all the junk.

I simplify life by trying to only buy stuff we need or has a use. Also have done a lot of purging in the last year of stuff that we haven't used or looked at in a long time.

I am working on simplifying our kitchen organization! In our case? Put the dishes out on shelves so show them off if they are pretty colors! Especially if you have a smaller kitchen.

My favorite organization tip that I read of in some magazine years ago was for bed sheets. When you fold up the sheets, stick them inside the matching pillow case and then store in your linen closet. Then when you need clean sheets all the matching stuff will be together. This has been SO incredibly helpful. Mmm. Maybe I should wash sheets more often.

I haven't figured out how to simplify yet – but my kids know if the toys are in the living room when they go to bed, chances are they won't be there in the morning! I threaten to throw out toys lying around… sometimes I actually do it. Each one in the trash is one less I'll have to pick up tomorrow!

      tweeted about it @mathmama

    24. I got an organizer and write all the things that I should do tomorrow. Get them all done and you'll be surprised you've managed to get them all done within a day.. .:D
