I couldn't imagine a life without gravy. Keeping healthy is great, but you can take a day off for Christmas and Thanksgiving ;D I don't see any harm in that.

This year our family was invited to a friends house to celebrate Thanksgiving. We are moving Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so taking Thursday and just "hanging out" will be such a treat. I don't REALLY overdo it on Thanksgiving until dessert time. ,,, then everything so goes down hill, so this year I am going to make sure that my dessert time doesn't "totally" blow my whole week!!

Well, technically, we don't *do* Thanksgiving -- it's just not a big thing here, obviously! For us, at least, Thanksgiving has always been about the family get-together part of things. And since we live thousands of miles from any family, even attempting the holiday here is a little lack-luster. But, in keeping with the spirit of the post, when big eating holidays for us DO arrive, I think I'll be opting for the *a little of both* mentality. Enjoy everything, but only once around. One dessert instead of three. Butter or gravy, but not both. That kind of thing. And, unless cranky toddler's temper tantrums take priority (like, oh, say, today!) fit a workout in somewhere as well.

i am going to watch my portions. now before you think i'm being fanatical - that means only two plates of thankgiving dinner and one full of dessert. that "so full i'm going to explode" feeling isn't comfortable. so while i'm going to enjoy the food i eat, i'm not going to eat till i'm sick.

i doubt there is a race in my area (i'll check) but i could definitely go for a run in the neighborhood while my mac & cheese bakes!
