Motivation Monday::Moving Fast

[ 15 ] 01/25/2010 |

All I could think about today (Sun) is my new toy get your mind out of the gutter.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a Nike+Ipod Sports Kit. (Christy wrote a review about it if you want to know more about it).  She has been raving about it ever since she got it and so have a few of ya’ll.  Plus, I really got tired at “guess-timating” how far I was running.  I wanted to know FOR SURE how much mileage pain I was enduring.

Anyhoo, I got the kit Friday and today (Sun) I did my first run wearing the sensor (it tracks mileage, time, pace, calories and all kinds of other good stuff).  I wanted to see if I was doing as well as I thought I was.  I blew all previous runs out of the water with today’s run.

Now, I’m not sure if I ran faster because I knew I could check my mileage and pace at any given second or if I always run like the wind (HA!), but either way, I rocked my run…..it was the fastest I have ever run I could barely walk nor breathe afterwards and OMG my poor tired legs and I’m not sure I can pull a repeat performance but I will DIE trying.

This new “toy” has motivated me, lit a fire underneath me so to speak.

So speak to me friends, do you have any “toys” that motivate you?  It doesn’t have to be fitness-related, it can be ANYTHING related to healthy living or the like.  I would love to get some new ideas – maybe you have something that motivates you that I have no idea about my husband doesn’t want me shopping online anymore, ha ha.

    That's so awesome Lisa!! I like using my HRM to keep track of the calories I have burned…trying to push myself a little more each time I do the same workout to see if I can burn more that the last time! So glad I splurged and purchased it!

    I love my Garmin GPS watch so much. Tracks mileage, calories, splits, and compares you to your previous workouts. Among other things. My husband surprised me with it for Christmas. He's a gadget person so he was all excited and did a bunch of research. Cute!
