Rethink Your Shrink::Week 1 Weigh-in

Rethink Your Shrink is about changing from the inside. It’s about looking back so that you can move forward by changing the present. We will re-evaluate our eating habits, our patterns, our obstacles and our activity levels. We will take with us what worked in 2009 and dispose of what didn’t.

Good morning SISTERHOOD! It’s weigh-in day, and we’re dying to know how your first week of Rethinking Your Shrink went! With this year so newly upon us, it’s hardly time to slack off, so we’re expecting to see some great losses.

So run, don’t walk to your scales (you know because you can burn some extra calories that way!). Hop on and peer down at that number? Is it shrinking? We hope so. We truly do. After you give yourself a HUGE pat on the back, let those fingers fly across your keyboard as you blog about your weigh-in, how you’re feeling about the challenge, and anything else you might want to share. Don’t forget to grab one of our fancy challenge buttons to add to your blog while you’re at it. I mean, who wouldn’t want one?

If you’re just now finding us, please don’t think it’s too late to join our challenge. It’s never too late, and we love newcomers! You can read more about the challenge here, and be sure to check out our first challenge post from last week. The short of it is we weigh in on Wednesdays, blog about it, and link up here in the comments section. Then we all go around and give each other some Sisterhood support. Easy-peasy, no?

On Mondays during the Rethink Your Shrink challenge, we have a fantabulous feature, that may or may not include homework, called The Monday Project. It could be about taking a look back, taking a look forward, or just taking a look at yourself. No matter the subject, it’s going to be a wonderful way to help YOU Rethink Your Shrink and become a healthier person from the inside out. Be sure to check out this week’s project here, and remember that “homework” is due on Fridays!

Because sometimes we forget and need a swift kick in the ass, we JUST announced our Biggest Shrinker for the Shrink-a-Versary Extravaganza challenge AND the winner of the Globetrotting with the Sisterhood challenge last night! Please make sure to congratulate your fellow sisters for all of their amazing, hard work!

In case you didn’t know, The Sisterhood hosts a Last Chance Workout twitter party while we watch the Biggest Loser on Tuesday nights! We start at 8 p.m. central time and go all the way till midnight for you west coast peeps! Be sure to join us and get your last chance workout in before Wednesday Weigh-ins!   • Sorry I'm way late with this, but better late than never, right? (Wednesday was a bit crazy for me).

    This week I'm up 1.7 (after losing .6 through the holidays), which is disappointing because I was tracking all my points and exercising well all week. Still, I'm not going to get discouraged, because my effort will show up on the scale eventually.

    Down 2.5-ish, since 11/30.

    I don't have scales here, I normally weigh in at a TOPS meeting but it was cancelled so I went to Curve's and the last time I weighed in on their scales was 11/30.

    But my goal on that day was to be there the same or down after the 1st of the year!

  • Do numbers on the scale ever lie?... perhaps sometimes they do. I did things right this week, but somehow a gained 1 pound! I'm not sure how, because I really felt like I lost weight and was totally expecting a report on my digital scale to validat this. My middle section even looks like I lost a bit of weight this week. It can't be the muscle vs. fat, because I really didn't work out this week to build muscle. BUT I did eat healthy, and drank better amounts of water. HUMMM? I'm hoping for a better report next week.

  • I weigh in on Saturdays at my WW meetings - I was up 6 fucking pounds last Saturday but I have been kicking ass and taking numbers the last few days!! I am following my workout and food plans awesomely! my blog & chores are not being given quite as much attention but oh well! I am working on me! ;-)

    I don't have time to blog today, but I'm down 1 to 160.2. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed since I've been logging my food on livestrong.com (The Daily Plate) all week and exercising way more than I have in the past. Bummer. I've also been drinking tons of water, so I'm not sure why it was only a pound, but I'll take what I can get. Maybe next week will show a little more results on the scale.

    Wow, it's nice to come here and see so many reports and positive comments. I have been working out every day, but didn't completely avoid a few cookies and dark chocolate treats. Although my weigh-in didn't change this week, I have enjoyed my exercise routine and feel stronger.

    This time IS different, I swear... haven't seen the 170's in a couple years
    2 years ago I was 204 (on the dr's scale, 198/199 at home) small changes got me to the 180's such as no soda at home, sharing meals, little more activity, etc. sorry about the rambling post but just want to share what's worked for me : )

    My weight today is 215.9, which I think is slightly up from last week? Which bites the big one! I let things get out of hand with a 4-day trip away at New Years. Don't want to have to post a gain ever again!
    I tried to find the post from the starting weight weigh in but had no luck. Anyone want to help me track it down so I can face the music? And this time, I will write both of these down and keep writing them down as we go forward.
    I am inspired by each of you as I read through these comments! Keep up the great work!

    to track my food. its a free site with almost any food you can imagine in their database. it also has a super cool feature that tracks your weight. you just update it whenever you weigh and it remembers it. there are also reports/graphs and stuff, so if you wanna go back and see when you had the most success, you can see what your calorie intake was like for that time period.

    I was up 3 from Christmas but have had an awesome week. I started training for a half marathon on Monday and I think it is really going to help me lose weight. I will let you all know tomorrow when I wiegh in.

  • Hang in there, Brian! We've all been there, done that. Hell, I've probably restarted several hundred times during the course of my adult life. All that matters is never giving up completely. Remember, the failure isn't in falling down, but in not getting back up again.
