The Monday Project: Try Something New

Rethink Your Shrink, The Monday Project

Good afternoon, sisters!! Well, we’re getting pretty far down the line in this challenge, I can’t believe we have just three weigh-ins left! And can you believe that it’s already February? How did that happen?

We have been in this challenge since December (almost five weeks!!) and by now you’ve had a chance to either get in a groove or get bored. Or maybe a little bit of both!

So this week, we challenge you to mix it up. Get creative and try something new. Anything. Now is the time to be brave and take that Hot Yoga class, like our own Heather did last week. Or the body pump class. Or spin class (yes, anyone can do spin class and it is my personal favorite!) Or a new DVD. Get into the pool. Anything.

The catch is, it must be something you have never tried before. Ever. If you’ve done yoga at home but haven’t done it at the gym, try it at the gym. If you’ve done yoga but haven’t tried the new pilates class, try pilates! Zumba! Kickboxing! There are a million exercises just waiting to be tried, go out and do them!

And no cheating! Try your very best not to re-incorporate something you’ve already done long ago. Try your very best to make this something you really have not ever done before! This is the week we physically exit our comfort zones and we know it’s ok because we are all virtually doing it, together!! I won’t lie, even I am a little nervous about it, but because I know all of you are doing it, it will make me feel a little more comfortable!

But  most of all, have fun!!! Write a post about your new adventure, take pictures if you want, feel free to vlog, and come back here Friday to link it up and share with the rest of us!

See you Friday!

YAY!! Sounds very exciting! I think it will be tough for me, but I'm sure I can find something new to try!!!!

  • weightlossmama

Will definitely be trying something new this week! Do love to try new recipes all the time. Does that count? LOL

We were just talking about this very thing at work today. I'm hoping to snag a coworkers video that I haven't tried yet. If not, I'll get something on my own. I like this challenge!

Whining: Can I do hot yoga again or do I have to do something NEW new?

Okay, if it has to be new new, I'll think of something. I did another hot yoga class on Saturday and already it felt so much better.

I'm looking up prices to join the gym right now…

Cool!! A friend loaned me a Pilates dvd a few weeks ago and I haven't touched it yet! Here is my perfect opportunity…now just to schedule it into my week!!

  • BrookeF

yikes…i know i say this every week, but this is going to be a hard one for me. i've tried every class that my gym has to offer…every cardio machine…walking, running, biking, swimming…

How about going skiing or snowboarding or something like that? Rollerskating? ;p

  • AmericanTribal

    I have a question! :)
Does it have to be a new EXERCISE or can it be a new anything? I have tried almost everything that I can think of: dancing, belly dance aerobics, yoga, running (can't do it anymore because of my stupid knee), pilates, Tae Bo, exercise ball, well… you get the point.
I'm on a tight budget because of a pay cut (boooooo!) so I can't sign up for classes right now.
Are we able to do a new lifestyle change? Like incorporating a beneficial food into our diet or a new way of portioning our foods?
    Thanks for the help!

you can totally tell you're in a cold weather state. around here we have to use that fake snow powder.

maybe i could find a unicycle or something ;)

  • Bari_F

I'm with you, Brooke, this is going to be tough. I've tried everything at my gym, so we'll have to see what I come up with.

I've got the same question! I'm still out with a sprained ankle so I can't try anything new exercise-wise so I am looking for other options!
