Most times when I look in the mirror, my eyes automatically gravitate to what I perceive as “wrong” with me. Big hips. Mommy muffin top. Wide ass. Tired eyes. Gray hairs. I mean, if I was to list everything that I think is wrong, we might be here all day.
Why do we do that? Why are we so critical of ourselves? Why do my eyes naturally start ticking off what I wish was different?
So today, instead of listing what is wrong, I am going to share with you three things that I think are right, three things that I LIKE about my body. Heck, I might even go so far as to say, LOVE about my body.
My eyes. Yep, love my eyes. They are a window to my soul in this picture, aren’t they?
Next up- my hair. I hope I don’t sound vain, but I have been blessed with good hair. I love my hair and I always have. It is jet black, super-thick, and uber-healthy regardless of how I treat it.
OK, this might sound silly and it has absolutely nothing to do with my body per se, but I love love love how I can have a good time anywhere, anytime….even when jiggling my squishy, “I housed three babies”, stomach. Yes, I have angst over this squishy stomach at times especially when I have to tuck it INTO my jeans, but I can and do poke fun at myself this usually sends me into fits of laughter at my own expense.
In all honesty, though, I love my skin color, my long arms, and my calves. Really, I do.
Here’s the thing.
Life is too short to focus on the negatives. Focusing on the negatives too much can bring me down, and really, aren’t there enough things and people and situations that can bring us down? We don’t have to do it to ourselves.
Lift yourself up, focus on the positives, and answer me this:
