Thursday Three – SUMMER!!!!!

[ 8 ] 06/10/2010 |

Alright, I really feel like my kids are the only kids still in school. Jacob doesn’t get out until tomorrow (thank you 53 inches of snow in February!!), so we are ITCHING to get our summer plans started.

SUMMER!!! Summer means so many different things to different people. Maybe it means travel or cookouts or ice cream or ICE CREAM! Wait, I already said that. But whatever. Ice cream deserves a double shout out. Because I love ice cream.

Anyhoo.

Besides all that stuff, there are some things that I am really looking forward to this summer:

  1. NO ALARM CLOCKS – My kids don’t sleep in. Ever. They are up between 7am and 7:30am every day. That’s no good for me. I’m looking forward to them getting up when they want to and letting me sleep in. I have told them to get out of my room enough times that I have them trained to not wake me up until at least 8:30am. They may even feed themselves. A girl can dream!
  2. REVOLVING DOOR – There is no other time of the year that we can open the door at 9am and the kids our in and out all day long. There’s enough kids and friends of kids on our street that every day is like a block party. Bring on the sun!
  3. FIRING UP THE GRILL – We don’t do anything fancy on the grill. Mainly chicken and pork is what we fire up. But we do it a lot more often in the summer. It seems like the food tastes better and there is less to clean up.  It’s a win-win situation if you ask me!

How about you? What are you looking forward to now that summer is FINALLY here??

First – you are NOT the last one in school. I still have 2 weeks of school!! YUK!!

Second, I LOVE LOVE LOVE summer grilling. I am lucky cuz Big Man will grill all year but I especially love the summer veg and grilling everything!

Third, summer around my way is AWESOME. I live 10 minutes from the beach or lake and there are always activities near the water. I LOVE where I live (at least I love it in the summer time)!!

Ok, not exactly Thursday 2 but you get the point!

    Love ya girl!

1- I am enjoying being up at 7am instead of 6am.
2-I love gardening-flower and vegetables and harvesting the veggies and flowers from said gardening.
3-More trips, special places to go, most of them outside.

Looking forward to sun. Um, someday, hopefully.
We grill all summer long, even if it's raining. Also looking forward to picnics outside, going to the beach and going barefoot!

I would love summer more if I didn't live in Tucson. HOT HOT HOT Its already been over 100 for a week. Its supposed to cool down to 95 for the weekend. Wow 95….how cool…not!!
I have more time to build my Avon business because my hours at the beauty shop are cut down by about half (all the snowbirds are gone) and that is a good thing. More time for myself as well. Maybe I can get out of town and go somewhere cooler.

Summer is by far my favorite season. Here's what I'm looking forward to this summer:

First-I get my summers off (please don't hate). I love not having to get up every morning at the butt-crack of dawn.

Second-Grilling in the summer ROCKS. We have an indoor grill-thing for winter, because, frankly, I won't stand outside in 2 feet of snow to grill. Tonight I made grilled portabella mushroom pizzas and hamburgers on the grill. YUM.

Third-Disney, baby! We are taking the kids to Disney World in August to celebrate their 13th b-days and my *gasp* 40th b-day. This will be their 2nd trip and my umteenth. It's going to be HOT but I absolutely, positively, HATE to be cold. I'm cold from about the end of September until May. Florida in the summer I can handle!

I could go on and on. I seriously LOVE summer. Michigan is a fabulous all-season state, but since I hate being cold (see #3) and don't ski, summer is where it's at for me :)

Okay, I'm mostly following the same stuff….but:

I loathe my alarm clock with the burning of a thousand suns. It sucks. I will be glad to throw it out the window (maybe literally) come Wednesday, our last school day.

I will enjoy the pool. I normally can't stand the pool, but in the last 2 months, I have changed my body enough to think I look better than the year before. Baby steps.

Last, I will get a break from “those” ladies. I can choose to only see the moms who I get along with, not the mean moms. And I might conveniently do a huge wave cannon ball into the pool if any of them show up.

Yeay!!! Today is our first day of summer vacation! I'm happy about…

    1. MORE FREE TIME – No homework to help slog through when I get home from work! No school fundraising or events to worry about! Woo hoo!!!!
    2. MORNING WORKOUTS – I can hit the super-early classes at the gym, the ones I miss because I'm driving the kids to school. Or, I can run or bike in the morning before work, without having to get up impossibly early!
    3. OUTDOOR TIME – It's nicer weather, so I can eat lunch outside more often, go for walks at lunchtime, and play with the kids outside when I get home, because it's still light out and there's no homework to get done.
