Sister Spotlight – The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

Tiffany, our Sister Spotlight from last week has chosen an amazing woman for this week’s Spotlight!

First of all I have to give a HUGE thank you and shout out to Brooke, for her very moving and humbling tribute.  I don’t often think of my vocation as a “gift” because it is just who I am and why I am on this earth, but when someone steps back and speaks of the impact my work has had on their life, I realize that it is kind of a big deal and that I am truly blessed to do what I do.  You are an amazing woman Brooke and because you have worked so hard to honor and train your body, your current health issues will no doubt, be short lived.  Thank YOU for reaching out to me and for allowing me to share my “tips and insight” with you, and thank YOU for inspiring me to continue my journey to better health!

Before I share my pick for this week’s Sister Spotlight, I have to take a very quick moment to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the Sisterhood, for providing a forum that has helped me have success in achieving my fitness and weight goals for the first time in years.  I was close to giving up on myself and succumbing to the belief that I was just meant to be over 200 pounds and that because I was on medication I wouldn’t be able to lose weight.  And then, I discovered this amazing community and I have to say that I feel like all of you have helped me take giant leaps towards my true self and as a result I have challenged my body to heights I never felt possible!  Love you all!

So, choosing this week’s super amazing sister to spotlight was not an easy task… So many of you have deeply impacted my life and have become like the sisters I have never had.   As I thought back to the beginning of my involvement at the Sisterhood, there is one person who has been an incredibly consistent “breathe of fresh air” and an endlessly positive, gracious spirit throughout every challenge and every “big event”.  She consistently comments on my weigh-in posts and on the posts of everyone participating… and her comments, or rather words of true wisdom are so thoughtful, encouraging and insightful.   As if she was speaking to her closest friend. I have often found myself reading the comments she leaves on other blogs that I have stopped to leave a comment… knowing that I will be able to gain wisdom from the sweet words she shares with others.  She has recently lost almost 50 pounds and is now embarking on a journey that is very close to my heart as she trains for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon with Team in Training.  We have even shared in the experience of working through injury.

If you haven’t guessed by now, I am speaking of Renee Ross at Cutiebootycakes!  In addition to her weight loss and fitness journey, she is a wife, mom and successful entrepreneur.  You can check out her beautiful creations here.  As I said before, she has decided to participate in Team in Training and just as those of us on Team Shrinking Jeans discovered, she realizes that it is about so much more than just training for a race…she discusses this decision here and you can take a quick moment to join her team and donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society here.  One of my favorite recent posts is her discussion of moving into the maintenance phase of her weight journey and honoring the new woman she has become….  She is an incredibly inspiring woman and one that I look to on a regular basis as a role model!

So, do yourself a favor and get to know this sister!  Send her lots of love and let her know how she has impacted your life!

Tiffany, thank you so much for your awesome Sister Spotlight. I’m so happy you chose Renee, and I totally agree with everything you’ve said about her. She truly is an amazing, inspirational woman!
