Veni Vidi Vici

[ 6 ] 09/02/2010 |

This is in Utah. You're all totally jealous right? Right.

I know you’re all thinking that I must be blogging right in the middle of that recurring dream about how I actually restored that Latin language right in the middle of my 1oth grade English class. You know, the one where I stand up on my desk, rip my shirt off, and proclaim to the other 24 kids and half-drunk teacher that Latin will rise and be dominant once again…

Even though that dream is totally awesome, that’s not what this post is about.

This post is about doing three things and doing them so well that success is inevitable. Seriously, if we do these three things we won’t be able to dodge greatness if we try.

Veni (I Came)

Isn’t the first part of this weight loss challenge showing up in the first place? Lots of people live fat for a long time. A looonng time! There’s never a desire (or at least an effort) to change because things are ok how they are. We’re comfortable enough. Well, at least until it’s time to fly on an airplane. Anyway, at some point we need to say “I want to lose weight” and we need to put on our game faces. We need to show up.

Vidi (I Saw)

Once we get ourselves ready to roll there’s a whole lot of rollin’ that needs to be done. I’m not talking about pigs-in-a-blanket either. We need to move more and eat better. We need to look at the road ahead of us and anticipate obstacles. After we get the wheels (figuratively speaking, you’re using your own damn legs) rolling we can create a plan that will see us through to success.

Vici (I Conquered)

Once our plan’s in place and we’re envisioning our goal. It’s time for some serious work. The kind where you get “down and dirty.” The kind of work that feels like work. We keep our focus and our heads up and we put one foot in front of the other one day at a time. We don’t look up to the summit, we just look one step ahead and go little by little. Before we know it, we’ll be looking down from the mountaintop  with a sense of pride that is unmatched.

These three little steps can helps us accomplish some pretty amazing things!

The day is not far when you’ll be chanting “I came, I saw, I conquered!”

I know, because if I can do it, there’s not a doubt in my mind that you can do it.

We came, we saw, we conquered!

About Ryan: Remember the guy in high school who all the ladies loved as “a friend?” That was Ryan. In July of 2009 (at the ripe old age of 27) he decided it was finally time to make a change in his life. He needed to have better health. Twelve months later he finds himself winding down the weight loss journey. He’s dropped 140 pounds (a Backstreet Boy) and is looking to drop 30-35 more. Help him finish up his weight loss journey so he can pursue his career as a trashy romance novel cover model. View author profile.

I guess my motto would be “I came, I saw, I’m conquering”
    I haven’t conquered yet… but I’m winning a bunch of the battles.

You are awesome!! That photo??? Just made me so homesick. I was living in the very western part of Colorado 3 years ago and it felt like home. I miss it.

That is an AMAZING photo to go along with an amazing post. Sometimes just showing up is the hardest part. But look at all the amazing things we’re capable of once we do!

also i want to say that i have pictures like that, and they’re so so very symbolic. pictures like that would never ever ever in a million years been taken had I not begun the journey. THAT PICTURE is what it’s about. That picture is what life’s about. It’s what the JOURNEY is about. That picture means so much (I hope you have it hanging somewhere. that IS you, isn’t it?)
