Sister Spotlight::Lisa
I was so humbled to be chosen by TrishB for the Sisterhood Spotlight. Trish is one amazing lady and it has been so, so, so much fun getting to know her and being the recipient of her unending encouragement. She has been an amazing teammate on our Shrinkvivor journey and I couldn’t be happier to call her my friend.
Choosing only ONE person to spotlight this week has been quite the task. There are so many amazing individuals who have impacted my life and the lives of so many others. I have said it many times that I literally cannot imagine my life without this amazing community.
There is one woman in particular that kept coming to mind this week as I reflected on all that the Sisterhood means and stands for. She is a mom of three, superstar runner, aspiring triathlete, wine connoisseur, amazing cook, super creative scrapbooker and I couldn’t be more proud to call her my friend and kindred spirit. You can find her Here, Here, and Here. Of course you know her as Lisa, contributing writer for The Sisterhood. I had the incredible experience of training alongside Lisa with Team in Training on Team Shrinking Jeans this past spring. From the very beginning of our journey, I connected with Lisa – maybe it was the mom thing, maybe it was the trials of being a first time runner, or maybe it was her balance of quick-witted humor along with her willingness to be totally authentic and honest. All of these qualities make Lisa magnetic and make her an amazing role model.
Just in the past year, Lisa has trained for and completed her first half marathon (with an injury) in June, she grabbed her 25 pound weight loss button, wrote and beautiful Exposed Post, has trained for her second Half Marathon, in which she will run next Sunday and even more importantly, she has come to a place of embracing her body and coming into her own as a runner. One of my favorite posts she has written was just recently when she talked about her love of running – She may as well have opened the window to my soul and put my thoughts on her blog – Our running journeys have been so similar and she has definitely encouraged me in the face of my own injuries and has done “the happy dance” with me in the face of my triumphs.
Beyond all of these accomplishments and achievements, Lisa is just a fun gal who loves her family and truly loves life. I had the amazing opportunity to visit Lisa in Austin last month and we sat up on her patio until well past midnight chatting it up about everything from how we met our spouses to the places we have traveled to stories about our children… as if we had been lifelong friends. I feel blessed to call her my friend and am so grateful that she has entered my life through The Sisterhood and impacted it so deeply!
So, if you don’t know Lisa, you MUST get to know her and enjoy her love of life as I have!
