Reminding myself (and you): It's all about the journey – The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

We are all here because we have one thing in common. We are all striving to live a healthier life. If you’ve been here for any length of time, you’ve (hopefully) realized by now that these journeys that we are all on are about more than just weight loss.

When I first began to lose a significant amount of weight, I thought I should feel like I was on top of the world. I did feel good, but there was something inside of me that still felt down. I still felt awkward.

What I realized was that my inside needed just as much work as my outside. Not only did I have to get my muscles into shape but also, I had to get my mind into shape.

As I worked on my body and my mind, I felt something else happen, I felt my soul feeling lighter. I started to feel happy. Not so down. I felt so great!

I’d like to tell you that my mind is completely healed, but that isn’t true. Working on my inside is a constant journey that will continue for a long time. Think about it like this: If you stop working out and start eating junk, then your body will become out of shape. Same goes with your mind.

What I’ve realized lately is that I really still have A LOT of work to do. And that’s OK. I’ve said it before, I’m on a journey to unite my mind, body, and soul and that’s going to take a ton of hard work. I’m prepared. I want to be the best human being that I can be, and I have to remember, this isn’t a sprint but a marathon. Slow and steady is the key.

What is so great about all of us here is that each of our journeys are completely different. What may be true for me is most likely not true for you. But what I urge you to do is to look deep inside of yourself. Ask yourself why you are here. What do you want to accomplish on your journey. Then live it. Know that this is a long race that we are all on. You have so many people here to support you because we are all striving toward the same goal. Our goal really has nothing to do about weight, but a lot to do about lives. Healthy lives.

It’s all about the journey.
