Happy Sunday! You all read about the superbly awesome JEN last week, right? Well, this week she is choosing to hand the ‘light over to our very own writer, Thea! I can’t say enough about Thea. Not only is she beautiful with legs that are a mile long, she is one feisty mama with an awesome sense of humor. Thanks for letting us get to know you better, girl!

I swear Jen and I were teamed up for Spring In2 Action before I found out she picked me for Sister Spotlight! Thank you, Jen for thinking of me…TWICE! Much love! : )

Tell us about your family.

I’ve been married to Dave for 9 years…our 10th Anniversary is in May. Holy crap, 10 years. I love that man so much. He really is my biggest supporter in everything. He’s an amazing husband and a wonderful dad and I just love him with all my heart. We have two kids. Jake is 7 and is about the smartest, most literal, sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. Emma is 5 and will almost certainly be the death of me when she gets to be a teenager…if not sooner. She is insanely funny and is a really, really big fan of talking. And singing. And making any noise come out of her mouth pretty much 24 hours a day.

What is your favorite workout?

Wow. You’d think being a contributing writer here at Shrinking Jeans would mean I’m all gung ho about exercising. The God’s honest truth is that I don’t like working out all that  much. I see it as a necessary part of life…but it’s usually the first thing to go when my day gets all crazy. I’m trying to make it more of a priority. But it ain’t easy. My current goal is to compete in a race every month in 2011. And I’ve got three triathlons planned this year too. I have to sign up for races to keep myself motivated.  If I don’t have something to work towards, I won’t work at all.

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?

I’ve got two. Without a doubt, crossing the finish line on my first ever triathlon in July 2010 and run/walking a 10k in November 2010. That was my furthest distance to date.

Have you set any goals for this year?

I am going to compete in a race every month in 2011. I did the Sisterhood Virtual 10k in January and a Penguin Pace 5k in February. I’ve got a 5k lined up for March, a 10k for April, the Fitbloggin’ 5k in May, a sprint tri in July, an Olympic tri in August (holy crap), and another sprint tri in September. I still need races for June, October, November, and December.

Who is your best support in your healthier-living journey?

Dave and the kids are amazing. Dave is a runner so he understands when I tell him I need to get a run in or when I have an injury he knows just what to say. The kids are amazing when it comes to asking if my run went well or when I’m moaning about doing one more rep they tell me how great I’m doing. Aside from my family, I could not have gotten where I am today without the amazing support I get here at Shrinking Jeans. I know I don’t say it very often, but you all really do mean the world to me and I am a better person because all of you are in my life.

Favorite songs on your iPod right now?

Oh gosh. Well, I just downloaded Mumford and Sons and I’m really digging that right now. I always love listening to Show Tunes. Godspell, Smoke on The Mountain, Hairspray, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown are always my favorites.

Who or what inspires you?

Knowing that my kids watch what I do is a huge motivation. I want to lead by example so that they can start off life with a better idea about nutrition and health than I had growing up. And at the risk of sounding like a broken record, Dave is a real inspiration to me. He is the master of balancing things out. He makes choices that he knows are better for him. He makes running a priority every single day. He knows what he needs to do to make life work for him.

Do you have any must-have health/beauty/clothing products?

Uh……no. LOL! How’s that for a wealth of information? I’m pretty low key when it comes to products. I don’t really have a loyalty to anyone brand or anything. I’m sorry. Now I feel like you all hate me.

Name 3 blogs you love to read!

I’m a big ol’ fan of MizFit, Roni, and YumYucky. They have an uncanny ability to make any subject humorous and have fun with things that could be otherwise boring as all get out. : )

5 things we don’t already know about you!

  • I used to collect Pez dispensers, but I hate Pez candy.
  • I have “survived” two earthquakes, one in Maryland, one in Japan. (They were both really small.)
  • Both of my thumbs are Hitchhiker’s Thumbs.
  • I am very comfortable in front of audiences as long as I’ve had plenty of notice and practice. I suck at improv.
  • When I was about 12 years old, I wanted to change my name to Jessica because I thought the name Thea was just too weird.
