Hello Sisters! (and Brothers!)

Happy Friday to you all! I’m wondering….

Would you play a game with me?

Our Sisterhood is constantly changing and seeing new people, and sometimes it’s impossible to keep up, so I thought on this fine Friday, we would play a little game so that we can see all of the new faces. I’m also going to throw out a little challenge for all of you. Please play along, even if you’re a lurker. (and I know you’re out there!)

First, I want you to introduce yourself. Tell us where you blog, so we can go check out your site. Then, I want you to tell us your absolute favorite way to work out.

Now, I’m going to challenge each and every one of you to try ONE thing new this weekend. It can be a new healthy food or work out. Part of the problem when losing weight is boredom. We all get tired of the same old work out and the same old foods, so the only way to keep from getting bored is to find something new!

OK. Ready to play? I’ll start.

1. My name is April. I’ve been with the Sisterhood since January 2009 and have been a contributing writer since June 2009.

2. I LOVE CYCLING. Love, love, LOVE it. Sometimes I feel like I was born to be on a bike. It’s like magic to me.

3. I am going to try quinoa this weekend. It’s really good for you and I keep seeing it on The Biggest Loser, and so I am going to try it.

OK! Now it’s your turn! GO!

OK, I’ll go next! My name is Bari and I’ve been hanging around the Sisterhood for about a year and a half, give or take. I blog at livelaughrunbreathe (dot) com. Come visit me!

My favorite workout has become running. I also love a good spin class, but don’t get to them as often as I should.

I’m not really trying something NEW new this weekend, but I’m trying a new running distance. If all goes as planned, I’ll be running 14 miles this afternoon/evening. This will be the farthest I have EVER run. Say a prayer for me (or 5 or 6) between 4 and 7 EST. M’kay? Thanks!

    PS-I love this place.

    Hellllllllooooo!

I’m Melissa (Lissa) and I am an editor here at Shrinking Jeans! I also blog at http://melissa.shrinkingjeans.net and on my personal blog: http://www.whereverimaywander.com

My favorite workout is definitely kickboxing. I like to think I am one tough bad-ass momma. Or something like that.

Hmmm… something new? You know what? This weekend, I will cut up veggies and cook chicken so that I have it ready for the following week and don’t get too busy and eat crap food! Brilliant!

  • http://christy.shrinkingjeans.net Christy_TheSistherhood

My name is Christy and I’m the other editor here at the Sisterhood! I’ve been here since day 1, which is 2.5 years! Wow, where does the time go?

I love running so much. More than I probably should (don’t punch me, okay!). I also love a good, hard, sweaty bootcamp. Bootcamp today left my muscles trembling and I actually collapsed after doing so many lunges I couldn’t stand up anymore! OY!

This weekend my husband won’t be home, so I’m flying solo with the kids. I’ve been dying to take them on an official hike before it gets too hot, so I think we might venture out to our local state park with our backpacks, snack and plenty of water!

  • melissaaustin

My name is Melissa :-) I blog over at http://www.byebyefatgirl.net

I LOVE to run. Which, for me is totally weird. I am training for my first EVER marathon in October and am already counting down the days. Oh, and sweating. Yes, I like to sweat. It’s gross. But it means that I have worked hard. ;)

I am going to take a Zumba class this weekend. I have never done it and I would love to become an instructor at some point, so I am going to give it a try

  • http://smartstrongsexy.blogspot.com Brooke F

Hi! I’m Brooke – my blog is http://smartstrongsexy.blogspot.com/ and my twitter handle is @smartstrongsexy.

Running is my favorite workout, but I prefer long runs over anything. Just me, the road, and the thoughts in my head.

something new? hmm…i’ll have to think about that. maybe i’ll try a new workout video on netflix this weekend.

  • http://plainolegrandmaislosingit.wordpress.com/ Adah

I blog at http://plainolegrandmaislosingit.wordpress.com/ and my twitter is @adahbug.

Something new for the weekend….I’m going to make a menu for the week, do the shoppig and prep as much as I can before Monday comes around again.

  • http://twitter.com/girlsworld Kirsten

    1. Hi, my name is Kirsten, and I’ve been a proud part of The Sisterhood since the beginning. I can be found at http://www.runninginagirlsworld.wordpress.com
    2. Obviously from my blog, I’m a runner. It’s part of who I am.
    3. I’m going to try something new. I’m going to run a race with two people I’ve never run with before – both sisters here – Beki and Ashley.

  • Lisa

Hi, my name is Lisa and I have been writing for Shrinking Jeans since January 2009 (good gawd!!!!). I blog here (duh) and over at my personal blog http://www.growingupmo.com.

I love to run and zumba but my passion is the pool setting. I could swim forever it seems and nothing hurts- yippee!

Something new to try? I have no idea. I am operating on very little sleep today and my brain isn’t functioning up to 100%. I’ll get back to you on this one!

  • Nancy

I’m Nancy and I’ve been here at the Sisterhood for a little over two years. I’ve been a contributing writer since January 2011. I blog at http://www.nancy.shrinkingjeans.net, http://www.a365view.blogspot.com and http://www.bacardimama.blogspot.com. Please stop by and visit.

My favorite workout right now is zumba closely followed by a good hard boot camp.

Something I am doing this weekend is tomorrow I’m walking a 10k for the March of Dimes March for Babies. If you feel so inclined, it’s not too late to sponsor me at http://www.marchforbabies.org/personal_page.asp?pp=2957141&ct=4&w=4614164&u=NancyCollins54

This was fun to read about everyone else. Great idea April!

  • http://shepdogg.blogspot.com/ Tirah

Hi, I’m Tirah and I blog at http://shepdogg.blogspot.com/ and I’m on twitter @shepdogg_ut. I found the Sisterhood 2 years ago in May. I’ve participated in a lot of challenges with the Sisterhood but have taken a few off to get my head in the right place. I’m back again and can’t wait for the next challenge to start up.

I love walking. I’ve tried to turn that love into running but I’m not quit there yet. I love being outside but that is kind of difficult when it is still snowing here regularly and we’ve only had 3 day’s about 55*.

I plan on trying Jillian Michaels Shred It with weights. I bought it a few months ago on sale but I haven’t found the time to do it. I will make it happen this weekend.

  • Julie Magar

Hi- I’m Julie. I’ve only been hanging around the sisterhood for a few weeks. I blog here: http://www.timetorunlikeagirl.blogspot.com and here http://www.julievisiondesigns.blogspot.com.

I’m learning to run, and I’m hoping it can be my few favorite thing. I’ve developed some tendonitis as a result, so I’ve been ordered to spend this weekend resting, which means I’ll have to try a new food this weekend and leave new exercise for next weekend! Actually, my real goal for this weekend (and hopefully long term) is to try and cook. I never cook for myself. This weekend I want to try this: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/chicken-shawarma-10000001816368/

  • http://www.facebook.com/doubletkris Kristin Stone

I’m Kristin – I’ve been here for a little while (6 months to a year, maybe?). I have a food blog at http://www.delightfulcountrycookin.com where I like to mostly feature healthy recipes (“mostly” being the operative word). It’s all delicious…check it out.

I don’t think my picture will show up…not quite sure how all of that works.

My favorite workout is to just plop my step in front of my TV and step to my favorite shows.

Something new? Hmmm…I’m not sure! I’ve been actually eating lots of fruit lately, which is really new for me. I’ll keep up the “2 fruit a day” over the weekend.

  • http://profiles.google.com/dmorrow01 Dorothy Morrow

Fun! I’ve been a lurker for the past few weeks… I’m looking forward to joining in on the next challenge…
I’m Dorothy and I’ve just started blogging at nearlyhereorthere.blogspot.com
I’m getting married in October, so I’m really looking to tone up to look great for my wedding, but I’ve been struggling to fit in my favorite workouts of Jazzercise classes into my busier and busier schedule!
Something new to try… I think I’ll find a new workout DVD at the library tonight and try that out this weekend… I need something new to get me moving!

  • Anonymous

I’m AnnG and I’ve been around nearly as long as the Sisterhood has been…scary, and here I am STILL trying to get a handle on this weight loss thing!
Anywhooo, you can read about me and my journey at
http://ann-shesgonnablow.blogspot.com (that is when I get around to blogging again!) I’ve been in a slump lately and haven’t been very diligent in updating it.
    My twitter is @annsgonnablow
Something new to try: I’ve been TRYING to live by a “no sugar added” diet plan since the 18th and haven’t been very successful this week, so I’m going to “get back to it” this weekend. I also checked out a couple of low Glycemic Index books from the library. I’m going to start following this plan this weekend, too as much as possible since I’ve been told it will help me with my weight loss!

Good to see all the new faces!

  • http://twitter.com/madfatwoman Joanna

I’m Joanna. I blog over at diaryoffatwoman.blogspot.com. I’ve been hanging around for a couple of months – not as involved as I’d like to be…but I LOVE the challenges!!

Something new? Hmm…well, I am going to go grocery shopping this weekend and promise myself to pick up a fruit or veggie that I’ve never tried and try it.

  • http://lauraslifeasawifeandmom.blogspot.com/ Laura P

I’m Laura. I’ve been here for, egads, a couple years for sure if not a bit longer. What can I say, I like the people, now if the weight would just start coming off a bit more. lol

Blogging, well I’ve kind of ditched that for right now, maybe one day I’ll return to it. I am on twitter though and of course facebook.

Favorite workout right now is the step aerobics class I started taking. It’s fun and kicks my out of shape butt at the same time. :)

Something new to try this weekend, well I’m not sure quite yet. I’ll get back to you on that.

  • Mary P.@anotherstepandanother

    Hi everyone!
I am Mary P. I blog over at http://anotherstepandanother.blogspot.com although it is a bit dusty over there as of now since I gave up the ‘net for Lent ! Phew! That was tough! I need to dust that blog off so please bear with me : )

I have been on the Sisterhood Playground mostly since last summer in the “Shrinkvivor Challenge days (Go Tribe Green!). My favorite workout is kickboxing. I also love those long walks.

This weekend I am going to try a new recipe, from the WW site I have been meaning to try for a while, Power Sticks http://tinyurl.com/ko3vh6. The site says they make a great breakfast and you can make 3 batches at a time and put them in your freezer. Sounds like something easy to grab ‘n go on the run!

Hi, I’m Karen and I just saw this post. My weight loss blog is Turn My Life Around, here is the link http://itsgonnaturnaround.blogspot.com/
I have been joining up with the Sisterhood since the beginning of the year. I joined up with the Power of One challenge and have stuck around. I have been loving the motivation and the accountability. If anyone is interested I have a challenge of my own going on over at my blog for the month of May. http://itsgonnaturnaround.blogspot.com/2011/04/shaping-up-weight-loss-challenge.html

I really enjoy my Wii Fit workout and my aerobics DVD. But I am really glad that it is warming up and drying off so we can take walks again.

Something new this week. I think I will try out one of those workout’s on Netflix. And get my water consumption chart/snack record made.
Thanks again for all you do.

My name is Roo. Well, it’s actually Audrey but my friends call me Roo. ;)

    I blog at color-me-crazy.net.

I am seriously considering getting a gym membership again for swimming, spin class and having child care so I can work out.

Just trying to learn to make ME a priority again.

  • carr_jeanne

I’m Jeanne and I just joined the sisterhood on Tuesday! I blog at http://www.TheNoodleFactory.blogspot.com (love for you to check me out!)
I’ve never been a fitness fanactic, but I’ve usually done something (yoga, hiking, weights). I spent last year with a lower back injury that kept me inactive and really down. This is the year I change all of that (and finally lose that pesky 15lbs.). I’ve started the Couch to 5K program (4 weeks in) and I LOVE it.
For my ‘something new’ challenge this weekend, I’ll do what I know I need to do… I’ll do my run outdoors rather than on my treadmill. I’ve been reluctant to try this because I don’t want my neighbors watching me huff and puff, but I need to get a feel for outdoor running if I’m going to be ready to run my first 5K in a couple of months.
    Good luck, everyone!
