In case you haven’t already heard or seen it, Odwalla recently introduced a new flavor to their line. It’s the Dark Chocolate Chip Walnut fiber bar and I recently received a sample from the good folks over at Odwalla to review for the Sisterhood.
Now before you freak out and get all nervous about that whole “fiber bar” stuff on the label, there’s NO need to worry. This bar is not some dry, hard, crunchy fiber-filled brick. It was soft, moist, and deeee-lish! Check out the chewy goodness!
It couldn’t have come at a better time for me, too. I had to report for jury duty at 7:30am earlier this week, which meant I needed to be up and out of my house by no later than 7am. So, I grabbed the bar and threw it into my bag to have for a quick breakfast once I got to the courthouse. Because of the amount of fiber in the bar, it stayed with me all the way until lunch.
In addition to the fiber, this bar is full of lots of other good things, too. Things like dark chocolate chips and walnuts which you would expect based on the name, but other things as well like whole grains, fruit puree (which is what I think helps keep it moist), and flax. In fact, due to the combination of flax and walnuts, each bar contains 560mg of Omega-3s.
For those interested in the nutritional run-down, here are the numbers:
Total Fat: 7g (Sat. Fat: 1.5g, Trans Fat: 0g)
Total Carbs: 36g
Odwalla Dark Chocolate Chip Walnut bars hit store shelves in March. They are available in natural food stores, select supermarkets and specialty outlets nationwide along with other Odwalla bars. I’ll definitely be buying more of these. Be sure to check it out!
