The 100 Push-Ups Challenge:: How Did You Do?

[ 15 ] 04/14/2011 |

{thanks, Bari, for bringing it to our attention!}

With the finale of our Spring In2 Action challenge also comes the end of our 100 push-ups challenge! Are your arms leaner and meaner? Do you look like you could kick some serious butt? Or… maybe you fell a bit behind. Cough. Attacked by the funk like some people I know? No excuses, people! We want the inside scoop on your performance!  Comment below, push-uppers!

  • 1. Did you finish the challenge?
  • 2. If you haven’t finished, how far along are you and do you plan to keep going?
  • 3. What was your max set? Girly or military?
  • 4. Do you see a difference in your arms and back? Because I SWEAR I have some new muscles popping out under all the cushioning. For reals.
  • 5. Do you FEEL stronger?
  • 6. Do you have any recommendations for future fitness challenges?

Add anything else in that you would like us to know! We hope you enjoyed this little challenge, because we know your beach bodies are thanking us!

YES!! I finished! I am so proud of myself. All done on my toes. I did my final test yesterday and did 45+15+10+10+10+10 with 10-second breaks between the sets…which in the scheme of things I’m calling a win. My arms are much stronger and a little buffer (and I swear “the girls” are a little perkier from the muscles underneath them!)

I’m going to continue doing pushups three times a week and then adding more core and upper body work after my half on May 1st because OMG I have Tough Mudder to train for!

It’s easy to lose momentum. My advice to those who didn’t finish or felt discouraged? Just do it. (Yes, I’m a Nike fan.) It’s just like anything else health/fitness related. You *must* just do it. You can talk yourself out of anything. But you want to be healthier and stronger and that’s why you’re here at The Sisterhood, right? It’s a 3-day a week commitment…to yourself. Not to anyone here. It’s for you. Because then you’ll get bragging rights. And bragging rights are pretty damn cool if I say so myself.

Girl! I kinda-sorta gave up, too. And yeah, I’m totally awesome like you {heavy sarcasm}.

I say we have a little side bet between the two of us! We do it, and if one of us drops out we’ll have to buy the other a $10 (name your fave store) giftcard. Yeah, I know I’m hitting you with the bang bang! A challenge and a bet (cuz I know you’re a frugal hooker!).

      Whatdayasay?

you’re hitting me a little below the belt. but you’re on!! I’ll go ahead and say that I’d want a Dunkin Donuts card if you drop out. after all i’m going to win a $300 clothing spree this weekend when I kick Jay’s but in the race :P (I promise I only love them for their coffee – toasted almond with skim milk & splenda)

I did the girlie push-ups and the max set I did was around 82, I started to get a little frustrated, but then I guess I didn’t read the “fine print” that said it was ok to go back and do a week over. What a relief. I definitely FEEL stronger and I can feel some muscles starting to form underneath it all!! Yippee! It was very difficult, when I started, it was so hard to do more than one!!! I do plan on continuing the push-ups because I feel like it’s helping to re-shape my body as I lose weight. I cannot wait to wear sleeveless shirts again!!

    • http://smartstrongsexy.blogspot.com Brooke F

How awesome that you’re seeing such a great benefit from the pushups! Keep up the good work!!! You’ll be to 100 in no time!

I’m DONE! I finished and I’m pretty darn proud of myself. I chose to do the challenge girly style ater the little problem I had with my rotator cuff a few months back, but in any case I still finished. Tonight I did my 100 push-up final test: 40+20+10+10+10+10 with a 10 sec break between sets. I call it a win, too. I can see some changes in my biceps but I wish I still didn’t have the bingo wings. Oh well. Thanks to Grandma B for those :)

Now that I’ve made it through the program girly style, I’m going to start it over again and work at them from my toes. This has been about the only strength training I’ve been doing, so I might as well keep it up.

WAY TO GO, Bari!! I’m with you on the bingo wings. Bastards! :P

Congrats and I know you’ll tear it up military stye!!

I fell off the program about week three tried to get going a couple times and finally acknowledged my loseryness. I am however randomly doing pushups off the window seat at work to try to do SOMETHING. Sigh…they are just so hard *whine*
