Rewarding yourself | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

I like quotes.  I really do.  I try really hard each week to find a quote that pertains to what I’m going to write about.  But I couldn’t this week.  I searched and searched and came up with zilch.  Which really surprised me, considering how important I think this week’s topic is: REWARDING YOURSELF!

How many of you reward yourself for hitting your goals?  If you already do, great!  If not, why not try it?  It’s a big motivator to know that once you hit a certain weight, or a certain weekly mileage, or a certain whatever, that you have something waiting for you at the end of the line.

Rewards aren’t just for the big goals, either!  You can use them whenever you want…heck, build them in everyday if you want to.  And you know why?  Because you deserve it!

And the great thing about rewards is that they can be ANYTHING!  And I’m going to even go crazy and say they can be food rewards, too.  I know the “experts” say that the last think you should do is reward yourself with food, but I use food rewards everyday.  I tell myself that if I eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 servings of dairy, and meet my daily water quota, then I can have dessert or a special snack at the END of the day.  And I work it into my daily Weight Watchers points, too, so even though I’m rewarding myself with food, I’m not going overboard with it.

Find something that works for you, and remember, it can be anything!  Get creative!  Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

  • Pick up a bouquet of flowers or a flowering houseplant.
  • Get a manicure and a pedicure.
  • Get a massage.
  • Have a facial.
  • Pick out a new piece of jewelry.
  • Buy a fashion accessory, like a trendy scarf or belt.
  • Splurge on beauty products.
  • Find an attractive blank book for keeping your journal.
  • Look for an interesting cookbook that features foods that are naturally low in calories.
  • Buy a newly released, best-selling book.
  • Hire a cleaning service.
  • Buy yourself a new wallet.
  • Buy a fun magazine.

Remember, the possibilities are endless (kind of like this post).  Do something that means a lot to YOU!  And then hit your next goal and do it again!!
