True Confessions

[ 5 ] 08/23/2011 |

All those ready for school to be back in session so that you can get back to your normally scheduled healthy living, please raise your hand!

I have not done all that great in the self-control department this summer. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that I recorded a gain the first week of summer vacation and the scale has not gone down since.

I need structure…order…for my time to be my own. Sigh.

Anyhoo.

I discovered something this week that I’ve heard people talk about but I had never had myself. Have any of you ever heard of Fractured Prune Donuts? It’s basically a gourmet, create-your-own donut shop. The take handmade cake donuts, dip them in hot oil to fry them, and then top them with any combination of toppings you want.

I took the kids yesterday, and let me just tell you…it’s a good thing we don’t live any closer to that store, because I would go EVERY DAY, it was that good. I had a Reese’s Cup Donut. It was peanut butter glaze with mini chocolate chips on top. Since the donut is right out of the fryer, and it’s all warm and the chocolate melts on top and OHMYGOODNESS. Emma had a S’mores Donut, and Jacob created his own with caramel glaze, crushed Oreos, and powdered sugar.

Needless to say, I could not find nutritional information anywhere for this place, LOL!

So those are my big infractions for the week: lack of self control, wanting my kids to go to school, and the best damn donuts ever made.

How’d you do this week? Link up in the comments if you wrote about your confessions this week, or just leave a plain ol’ comment with your laundry list.

Boy am I stupid!!!  When I read the name of that donut shop, I was thinking all healthy because it had prune in the name.  You know, like a laxative.  My hand is up and waving wildly.  I have been in and out of work since last week, but I start full time tomorrow and I am so happy.  I put on a dress last night for the back to school night / ice cream social and I cried.  I was sickened and disgusted.  I looked 5 months pregnant.  Not a good look for a 56 year old.  How I could lose weight during this challenge and look like this is beyond me.  No it’s not.  I have lost weight because it was so hot and I look like this because I have not worked out in forever.  Little bits of work in the pool does nothing.  Well, it all stops now.  I started the C25K this morning and a real routine starts tomorrow.  I will look and feel better on October 22 when I run my first 5k in it’s entirity.  No walking allowed.  Sorry this is so long.  I should have written a blog post, but I figured I didn’t have time.  Last minute stuff at work.

Then I’m glad you wrote here! I’m proud of you for restarting C25K!
