Writing Assignment :: For me, it’s basketball…

[ 1 ] 10/07/2011 |

I walk onto the court and over to the rack where the balls are kept. I carefully choose which ball that feels best in my hands. I smile as I turn and walk to an open hoop. I love the sound the ball makes when I dribble it. I love the sound of many balls bouncing on the court. In my mind, I’m in high school again. I can almost see my teammates, all of them looking and waiting for me, the point guard, to call the play. I fake left, drive right, pull up, shoot, SCORE!

When I was in high school, playing basketball was one of my favorite things to do. I loved the sport and the feeling of being on a team. For a time that was hard for someone like me, basketball was my escape from reality. I loved it and I’m pretty sure it loved me back. Not too long ago, I played basketball for the first time in years. Being on the court made me feel amazing. Working out is great, but playing sports always made more sense to me. After just 30 minutes, I remembered that about myself. I miss playing sports. I should play more sports. I will play more sports.

I have a writing assignment for you today. Write about something fitness related that gives you that amazing feeling. That feeling that makes you grin from ear to ear after you’ve finished your workout. And then when you’re having a bad day and you don’t feel like working out, read what you wrote and turn to that one thing that gives you the feeling you described.

Please post a link to your post in the comments. I know we’d all like to read them. :)
