The Shrinking Jeans Olympics is our nod to the amazing athletes who are competing in the London 2012 games, and a way to bring some friendly competition to our readers.

Below is a list of our daily events for the fitness challenge, and you can compete in as many or as few events as you’d like. Team up with some friends or family, in real life or virtually, and kick some relay ass! Just remember to try your best, practice good sportsmanship, and try to take home the gold!

Shrinking Jeans Olympics Fitness Challenge Dates

The Shrinking Olympics will run from Monday, July 30th through Wednesday, August 8th.

We’ll have a live Olympic awards ceremony on Twitter on Thursday, August 9th at 8 p.m. Central! Maybe you will earn the title of Ultimate Shrinking Olympian!

The Ultimate Shrinking Olympian medal and prize will be awarded to the individual who accumulates the most points during the 2011 Olympics. Each gold medal is worth 4 points, silver medal is worth 3 points, and the bronze medal is worth 2 points, and participation in the event is worth 1 point. Good luck!

Report your daily results for each event separately on THIS FORM by 12 midnight Pacific time to be in the medal running for your event! Questions? Email us at support@shrinkingjeans.net!

10-DAY Marathon CHALLENGE:

Run or Walk a Marathon! Between July 30 and August 8th log 26.2 miles and keep track of your time. You could break it down to 2.6 miles a day, or however you’d like. Just make sure you track your cumulative time for the entire 26.2 miles.

Shrinking Jeans Olympics Fitness Challenge Events

Monday, July 30:

1-mile dash (time) -Run a mile as fast as you can!
Fastest cycling mile (time) – Bike a mile as fast you can!

Tuesday, July 31:

Rowing (# of rows in 6 mins) – Hop on that rowing machine at the gym and ROW!
3-Minute Wii Fit Hula-Hoop (# of hoops) – This one requires a Wii and some serious hip coordination

Wednesday, August 1:

Relay (team of 4) 1/2 marathon! – This one requires each person run 3.28 (or 3.275 to be exact) miles. Combine times for total race time.
Crunches (# in 3 min) – Hit the floor and crunch. Mix it up

Thursday, August 2:

Swimming, 500 m (10 laps i.e. across & back) (time)
5k run (time)
5k walk (time)
5k elliptical (time)

Friday, August 3:

6 Miles Cycling (time)
Burpees (in good form, # in 3 min)

Saturday, August 4:

Plank Hold (time)
10k run (time)
10k walk (time)
10k elliptical (time)

Sunday, August 5:

Mini-Tri

  • 1/4 mile swim (500m or 10 laps)
  • 12 mile bike
  • 5k run (3.1 miles)

1/2 mini Tri

  • 1/8 mile swim (250m or 5 laps)
  • 6 mile bike
  • 1.55 miles run

Run-bike-run Du (time)

  • Run 2 miles
  • Bike 10 miles
  • Run 2 miles

Monday, August 6:

Total Exercise Minutes (actual exercise) (time)
6-Minute Wii Fit, Hula-Hoop (# of hoops)

Tuesday, August 7:

Relay (team of 4): 4 x 1 mile (combined times)
Wall-Sits (time)

Wednesday, August 8:

Squat hold (time)
Push-Ups (# in 3 min)

Thursday, August 9:
