Shrink Yo' Self in 2012

Yippee, it’s Wednesday and you know what that means?  It means we all get to weigh-in and share it with each other- how exciting!!!!  It’s our second week of weighing in and I Hope everyone’s scale is moving in the right direction : ).  Go ahead, kick off your shoes clothes and go weigh yourself.  Really…..go.

The Assignment

Dear Me.  We asked the future you of 2013 to write your present self a letter about all the wonderful things you did this year, as if you had already done them.  We want you to talk to yourself about your accomplishments and what you learned, what you overcame, and so on.  Have you written your letter yet I haven’t?  Go ahead and write your letter- you won’t be sorry.  Also, next January, when you pull out that letter and see all that you did do- it will be awesome.  You can go here to link up your letter post and to read every one else’s Dear Me letters.

The Fitness Challenge

Our fitness challenge will remain the same this week (and I think, every week).  We’re asking you to do either 20 minutes of vigorous exercise three times weekly OR 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times weekly.  The lovely Heather outlined the difference between vigorous exercise and moderate exercise over here.  How’s it going for you? What kind of exercise are you finding enjoyable, yes enjoyable?

  • We have a great Chobani Greek Yogurt giveaway going on right now (ends 1/14).  If you haven’t entered it yet, then you should go do that right now!
  • How many of you have joined us for the 52 Small Changes challenge?  Week 1 was all about the water, as in getting enough hydration for your body.  Week 2 is all about getting enough sleep, like a minimum of 7 hours of sleep PER NIGHT.  Please join our group at the Hood for support, motivation and discussion.
  • Monday nights at 8 p.m. Central we gather at the ‘hood and have Sister Chat about all things healthy (and not-so-healthy)! It’s totally fun and funny. I promise you won’t be sorry if you come, but you will be sorry if you miss it!Every Tuesday, we have a Tworkout (Twitter + Workout = Tworkout) at 8 p.m. Central time. You won’t find a more fun workout anywhere, trust me! April is like a drill instructor, but she totally loves listening to all of us whine about how much we hate burpees and side planks. True story.

    Yay!  Happy to report a loss of 3.6 lbs for this week’s #ShrinkYoSelf challenge!  I do still need to write my letter but I am getting at least 45 minutes of moderate exercise every day.

    Down 2 lbs. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to hold and continue the loss since it started in a less than idea way (being sick), but I did! And I’m happy!

    I still need to write a letter to myself, but I’ve managed to keep up with exercise. I’m down 1.8 so far. I won’t be able to keep up with the 52 small changes. I’d fail miserably this week with an infant in the house. I just can’t get 7-8 hours of sleep in! :-/

        That is almost verbatim what I said… Except I can’t print what I said! I really wanted to make the vegetarian thing work, but going back to lean animal protein and low carb clearly works well for my body and I am feeling great!

    Up 3 lbs. – had a stressful week and of course I taught the world a lesson by eating emotionally and that just worked wonders. Didn’t know about the letter, but I will catch up this weekend. It’s a holiday weekend for my office.

      I’m the same way Virginia, but I am struggling right now to just get under 175. I have been back and forth and back and forth for a while now.  Crossing my fingers for the both of us this week!!  :)

    One of my goals is to eliminate the scale… I haven’t done it yet. I did manage to go two full weeks without stepping on though so that’s something.  I’ve lost all the holiday bloat and grossness and now it’s time to work on the real stuff.  I’ve been tracking in myfitnesspal and drinking water like crazy, and moving my buns.  I’m doing pretty good on the no-sugar thing. I’ve only had 3 little things in the last 10 days which really beats the ginormous amount of sweet junk that I normally eat.  thank goodness for fruit and sugar-free jello!

    I only lost 1.9 pounds this week. On the one hand, I am happy with that because that is the most lost in one week in a while. On the other hand, I worked my rear end off (although, apparently, not literally) for every ounce of that. My goal was 20 pounds over the nine weeks, which is an average of 2.2 pounds per week, so now I am already behind. Grr.

    I just learned about the 52 challenges and it sounds really good. Something I will be doing. The letter, I will write today after I finish my work out. And I am doing fine, I lost 3 lbs. I am running 3 times a week and this week I incorporated strength to my training. I had a bit of a fall yesterday but I am going to do much better today :)

    I’m just getting started, but I had my first two workouts today (Jillian in the morning and run in the evening). Looking forward to meeting some of my goals before my 30th birthday in March! Can’t wait to read up more and find out what all of this is about. Goal for the next two days is to write up my letter to myself. Your successes are keeping me going… Keep it up!
