It's All Good! – The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

I had today’s post all planned out in my head. Then….Mel posted a story about her cruise. Basicly, it was almost the same thing I was going to write about. I told her so in the comments. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great post. It just kind of took the wind out of my sails. Ann (bless her heart) commented that she still wanted to hear about my vacation.

Here is the short and sweet version of my vacation………….. I took the most amazing vacation that I have taken in many, many years. My best friend and I went to New York City for nine days. You name it and we probably did it. We saw two Broadway shows. We saw Cirque Du Soleil at Radio City. We went to the top of the Empire State Building and the Top of the Rock. We went on tours. We went to Sunday mass at Saint Patrick Cathedral. We spent a lot of time in Times Square. We rode the Staten Island Ferry at night in the dark. Anyone who knows me knows that was huge!! We were on tv at the Today Show. There is so much more, but you get the idea. We were on the go pretty much nonstop. We were doing 12 and 15 hour days. One day, we got on the train at 5:15 a.m. and got home at 1:00 a.m.

The kicker is that we were doing all this in upper 90’s and 100 degree weather.

We learned early in the trip that we needed to share meals. $28. for a salad or burger was going to cost us an arm and a leg and that was just for lunch. Dinners were even more. Sharing it was, but we ate quite well. One thing we didn’t do was drink enough water for as hot as it was. Next time, we’ll do better.

On the evening of Day 9, we met up with our husbands for a family reunion in Baltimore. Day 12, we parted ways. My friend and her husband headed for home and Dick and I went out on our own adventure. The next five days found us in Washington DC, Pennsylvannia and Ohio. We did tons of walking in the same insane heat, but we didn’t share meals. I still ate smaller portions though.

Here is the part of this trip that I am most proud of….I lost 4.2 pounds!!! I guess the walking, sweating and shared meals did the trick. I have never lost weight on vacation before. EVER!! Yes, I am proud of this little fact.

Now, look at these cuties here. Are they not adorable? Come on, you know they are.
