I’ve always wanted to do a charity race, but (at the risk of souding horribly self-centered), the idea of fundraising scares the crap out of me. I’ve read guides and how-to’s and it all just seems horribly intimidating.
That being said, I’ve always found the idea of someone benefitting from my running very intriguing.
Then I heard about Charity Miles.
Now that sounds perfect! Raising money for charities every time I bike, walk, or run outside!
Currently, the app is available for the iPhone or Android and they feature nine charities:
How about you? Do you think raising money for a charity would motivate you to run, walk, or bike more? Which charity would you donate to?
I just downloaded this app – I love the idea and I’ll give it a try. Autism Speaks will probably be my go-to charity.
Too bad phones aren’t allowed for my tri on Saturday – I could earn some money on the bike and run portions.
This is a really neat app! I’ll have to download it.
This app is awesome. I downloaded it and my walk tonight will be for Autism Speaks. All my walks from now on will be for Autism Speaks. It is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention.
Thanks for this post Thea! I just posted (on my blog) about a cool quantum experiment I conducted. I involved running, donuts, and pizza.
I’d love to feel even better about my running by thinking about doing charity while I run! That would feel great. And feeling great about my exercise, in my experience, is the most important part of exercising (if I want to have it continue to help me manage my weight)!
Raising money for a charity (Susan G Komen) scared the crap out of me!! But as you know I raised the $2300 last year for the 3 Day Walk for the Cure and I’m on target for doing it again this year. Walking 60 miles in 3 days is no easy task ( and neither is training for it) BUT it sure is easier than fighting breast cancer! It’s sooooo rewarding to know you are helPing someone else!!
i love charity miles!! definitely nice to know that i’m putting all of my miles to good use! i was excited to find out that they recently added the ASPCA to their line-up :)
