Runner’s Corner- Power Songs That Make You Run Faster/Stronger

Power Songs That Make You #Run Faster & Stronger! #playlist #shrinkingjeans

You guys impressed me with the response to the Runner’s Corner-Introduce Yo’Self post.  I loved reading about each and every one of you and I can’t wait to get to know ya’ll better.  Also, I think we are one bad-ass group of runners, if I do say so.  I am still hashing out in my mind what this running corner of the world will look like so bear with me as I work out the kinks, pretty please.

Today, I want to talk music.

I know, I know, there are some runners who like to run *naked* (not literally naked- ha!, but naked as in no music to distract them…..or no heart rate monitors or GPS to glance at every 2 minutes).

I am not one of those runners.  I like the distraction of music, I like listening to my favorite tunes blaring in my ears, and I like how the beat can pace me.  Of course, there are certain songs that really *rev me up*.  Seriously, a select group of power songs make me run faster and stronger, help me get my breathing under control and just kick everything up a notch.

Surely I am not alone in this.

You wanna know what songs send me flying along the pavement, visions of a Kenyan-like pace that’s all it is though- a vision?  OK, not every one of these songs make my want to push faster; however, each of these songs makes me want to keep going, especially when the going gets tough.

Also, I need to preface this list with this:  I like wiggity-wiggity music (that’s what my husband calls it)…..you know, bee-bop music that has a beat.  A lot of times I have no concept of the actual words to a song but I certainly know the melody.  I blame the 7 years of music back in junior high and high school- we were all about the melody, how notes fit together, the tone, etc- no words! One more thing- I have not watched all of the videos linked here, but I did glance at a few and um, they could be found to be a little risque- consider this your warning if you choose to watch the videos : ).

That being said, here is my list of  three ten power songs that make you run faster/stronger……well, they make ME run faster and stronger.

1. Rihanna, We Found Love

2. Karmin, Brokenhearted

3.  The Wanted, Glad You Came

4.  Rihanna, Where Have You Been

5.  Flo Rida, Right Round

6.  Katy Perry, Firework

7.  Kat DeLuna, Drop It Low

8.  Linkin Park, Bleed It Out

9.  Bruno Mars, Just the Way You Are

10.  Journey, Don’t Stop Believin’

So talk to me, fellow runners. What songs really pump you up to keep going faster/stronger?
