Couch to 5K Check-In #7

Week 8 of Couch to 5K. Full steam ahead and only this week and next week to go!  You are either really surprising yourself with what you are able to do, or you are still dreading every step, or you are looking forward to every step, or you might still be wondering what the hell possessed you to sign up for C25K.  Maybe one or none of the above, right?  One day, I promise you, even if you have doubt right now, if you just keep with it, you will overcome those doubts.  I am a testimony to that.  I really and truly believed that I could not and would not EVER be a runner and well, that is not the case.  But if I had thrown in the towel when the going got tough, and believe me it has been tough many times over the last three years, then there is no way I would the happy, injury-free runner that I am today.

You got this- now go run!

Week 7- Days 1, 2,and 3
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 2.5 miles (or 25 minutes).

Week 8- Days 1, 2, and 3
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 2.75 miles (or 28 minutes).

Running Tip for the Week: Look up and straight ahead, NOT down at your feet. You will enjoy the scenary more and see what’s coming up! Free advice, no charge. Your welcome : ).

Week 8, day 1 today! It felt amazing – so glad I decided to take part in this! Finally, at 40, I am becoming a runner!

I am starting week 8 tomorrow! I have found that most days I look forward to it! Although I am not keeping up with the speed of a 10 minute mile. Anybody else think that is a bit of a high expectation? I am going with the time right now and will worry about the distance later. I am also 40, and just becoming a runner! :)

Continue with the C210K app. Just start off at then end of 5K and it will include a little speed work. Or sign yourself up for a race or two to keep the running motivation going.

Thanks for that tip! I had not thought of that!

So happy for all of you who are on-task! I unfortunately am behind but I will finish (damnit).

I am starting week 7 this week. I have a combo of the above feelings but I’m doing it! I am turning 40 this year and am running for the first time in my life. I have been training on my treadmill since the winters in NEPA are cold bitter. I am also not pushing the 10 min mile, but focusing on the time. I want to runs 5k, I don’t need to win it!:-)
