How Far Have You Come?

0

My friend Tiffany asked a question on Facebook the other day. I loved it so much, I asked her if I could use it here. She said, “Absolutely!” Here is what she said…..
“In thinking this morning, I remember how easy it is to focus too much on that darn number on the scale. I challenge all of my friends and family to really dig deep and recall five things that you can do better today than when you started your fitness journey and post it here. We are ALL much stronger in so many ways than we give ourselves credit for.”

I started thinking about how true that is. We get so caught up in the number on the scale that we don’t give ourselves credit for the wonderful things that we do that the scale doesn’t reflect. The scale doesn’t show inches lost. The scale doesn’t show strength. The scale doesn’t show determination.

Let’s focus on the positives today. Forget about the scale for a minute and think about how far you have come in your fitness journey. Dig deep and think about how awesome you are. Tell us five things that you can do better than before you started your journey. It might even be things you couldn’t do at all that you can do now. Tell us in the comments below. If you want to go in depth, write a whole blog post about it and leave the link. I want to know. How far have you come? Just to get the ball rolling, I’ll start.

1. I make working out a priority in my life now. I schedule the time in my day. I don’t make excuses to not keep those class dates.

2. I eat healthy. Fruits and veggies are a lifeline to me now. I may have an occasional slip up, but if I do, I jump right back on that horse. I don’t use that one slip to call the whole day a wash and eat anything I want.

3. I have a goal of getting no less than 10,000 steps a day. Some days, I do way better. Look at my Fitbit stats for this past Tuesday.

4. I have an amazing support system of friends who make me want to succeed and do well. I am finally achieving my goals.

5. I weigh and measure every Sunday with my old fitness instructor. She is one of the most important people in my support system. She has made me no longer afraid of the scale and that is an amazing feeling. I still don’t love getting on the scale, but I don’t fear it like I used to.

Okay! That was pretty easy once I got going. I actually could have added more numbers. Give it a try. It will make you see how far you have come. You’ll be proud of yourself and we all need that feeling!
