Good day, runners!!! Yes…that means YOU! If you were here last week, you know we have kicked off another round of virtual couch to 5k training. If you missed Lisa’s kick-off post, go read it here. I’ll wait.
We all caught up? Perfect :)
That training starts NOW. You should have downloaded the C25k app (from the app store of your choice) or printed off the training plan. If you are like me, you’ll have plugged all your runs into your handy calendar so there are NO EXCUSES as to why you “had” to miss your workout.
That ain’t gonna fly.
3 times per week for 30 minutes – that’s all we ask. You pick the days/times that work best for you and you DO IT. The only way this program is going to work is if you commit to it. If you miss a workout, get it in the next day. If you know you have little Susie’s piano recital on your run night, then get yourself out in the morning. If you really and truly feel you can’t move on to the next week because you are physically not ready, then repeat a week or repeat the last run. If you think you can’t move on because the next workout scares you…put that thought right out of your mind.
I know many of the Shrinking Jeans challenges have check-ins here on the site, but for C25K we do things a bit differently. Please make sure you are signed up for the Run the ‘Hood C25K group on Facebook. From here on out, this is where you will post your runs and your progress (plus have a couple hundred people cheering you on!). You should also “like” our Run With the Sisterhood page. Lots of sisters (and a few brothers) here with tons of experience. This is a great place to ask questions because chances are, someone there has experienced exactly what you are wondering about.
For those of you on twitter, feel free to post your runs their as well, just don’t forget to use our FB group. I’ve come up with the super-original hashtag #runthehoodc25k. The more encouragement the better!
If you want a great target, make sure you get signed up for our virtual race – the Shamrock Shuffle 5k!
I think that’s about it! Can’t wait to cheer all of you on. Ready…Set…Couch to 5k!
