Run/Walk 2.62 Miles for #BostonStrong……
It’s been over a year since the Boston Marathon bombings, in which three people were killed and countless others seriously injured while watching and waiting for their loved ones to cross the finish line after running 26.2 miles.
I felt so helpless that day, not understanding how something like this could happen here (or anywhere)…..but it did (and does). My heart cried for all those directly impacted, for the city this happened in, for the running community, and humanity in general.
Tragic events do not define us. However, they can help us grow as human beings and more importantly, show compassion and support to those who need it.
Here at the Sisterhood, we are all about supporting one another- encouraging, motivating, inspiring and let me say it again, supporting each other. Let’s extend that support to the city of Boston and for all those running the Boston Marathon- today, yesterday and future.
To show support for the Boston spirit, runners all over the world, and those who love them, we are launching a one day virtual event.
I don’t think it’s feasible to ask you to go 26.2 miles, the distance of a full marathon. However, we can move that decimal over by one and make this attainable for more- to show our love and support.
Please join us by running or walking 2.62 miles TODAY (Monday). Show the world that although we were devastated by such a senseless act of violence- we are not defined by it. We can and did rise above it.
Below is a runner bib.
Click here to download a printable PDF—–> Boston Strong Bib
Download the race bib, save, then print. Once printed write your name on the line at the top then fold the page in half and slide it into a quart size zip lock bag. You may have to trim the side to get the back to close. Pin it to your shirt with safety pins and go run (or walk) your 2.62 miles. Snap a picture of you wearing your bib and share it with us on one of our Facebook pages- Run with the Sisterhood (our running community) OR The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans (our everybody community : )).
Together, we are #BostonStrong.
