Going Shopping – Thursday Three – The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

Most women I know love going shopping but the problem that most of us have with it is taking the time necessary to do so. Going shopping today has never been easier with all the online shopping available. We literally can sit on our couches or desks and go shopping in various parts of the world all with the click of our mouse! Amazon Prime has become my best friend lately! Just this week I went shopping in MI, TX, CA, and Canada within the same hour! Even more exciting is the fact that I can have most of these items delivered to my home within a few days! I love shopping today!!

But….sometimes I like to actually GO SHOPPING. As in get in the car, drive to a “brick and mortar” store and touch and feel the items I am looking to purchase. Swimsuits, clothes and shoes, and food are all things that I have to actually buy in a store. Call me old fashioned, or call me practical – it’s your call!

Three things that I have been going shopping for in a real brick and mortar store over the past few weeks:

  • Swimsuit – My body has changed since last summer (and I honestly didn’t like the swimsuit I bought last summer), so I needed a new swimsuit! It’s already toasty in Texas and I’ve been holding off on going swimming with my son simply because I didn’t have a swimsuit yet. I dropped him off at karate the other day and headed to Kohl’s (I.LOVE.KOHLS) in search of a suit that I would feel comfortable wearing. I must have tried on 10 suits of all different styles and sizes. Why do all the clothes have to be sized differently? I finally found one that I’m happy with. The biggest problem with the suit I chose is that it is black and I’m very pale!! A HUGE CONTRAST but I will deal with it.
  • Workout shorts – I am almost 49 years and have a 10 year old son. I really don’t want workout shorts that show off my butt cheeks! I’m also not a “skinny-minny” that has no muscles in her thighs! I am a good distance away from a “healthy” weight, too but that doesn’t mean I want to wear men’s shorts to workout in! I want shorts that fit my curvy body without having to pay an arm and a leg for them. I’m back to losing weight again so the clothes I buy now need to be well made but not expensive so I don’t feel that I am wasting money when I shrink out of them! I’m still on the look out for the perfect dri-fit shorts. I’ve looked at Kohl’s, Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and JC Penny. If you have any suggestions, I’m open to them!
  • Bras –  I’m looking for both sports bras and regular every day bras and I hate how every one of them is made so different! And once you find one you love they stop making it! I have tried so many different bras that I have gotten frustrated with trying them on. I’ve gone to speciality stores and I’ve gone to Target and it seems that there just isn’t a bra for me. I’m going to keep looking because I desperately need new ones but why does it have to be so hard? And why don’t they make band sizes in odd numbers? That’s where I am now and it’s frustrating!!

So here are my shopping woes. I would love to hear some of yours!!

xoxoxoxo,

Ann
