According to Wikipedia……Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain (now officially known as the United Kingdom).

Duh….we know that!

Typical July 4th traditions might include a parade, picnic, baseball game, and eating American fare like hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, corn on the cob, cole slaw and here in my area, S’MORES!  We cap off all this eating with fireworks and staying up to late while sweating our butts off.

I am all for that and if I am being honest (and why wouldn’t I be honest?), I will be partaking in all the deliciousness of the BBQ’s and picnic fare at the party we attend. However, I will do a few other things before that party to help offset the gluttony that is sure to occur (if I am being honest).

  1. Exercise early in the day
  2. Drink TONS of water
  3. Volunteer to bring something, ANYTHING, healthy to the party

I will enjoy July 4th, I will celebrate with family and friends, but I will take care of me, too.

What are your July 4th plans?
