Get Off Your Broom: Week 3 – Check In

Today is Wednesday, so that means it’s time to “get off your broom” and check in with us! Stop right there and go weigh yourself and let us know how you are doing! This is week 3 for our Diet Bet, but even if you aren’t participating in the Diet Bet we still want to see how you are progressing in your goals for the month! Can you believe that today is the 22nd of October? This month (like all the others, this year) are just flying by!

What goals did you set for yourself this week? Did you reach those goals? Or were you hit by some insurmountable challenges that threw you for a loop? We all have weeks that go wonderful and we all have weeks that don’t go well at all, but I hope you found success in even something small. Did you drink enough water? (Are you keeping up with the water challenge?) Are you participating in the push-up challenge? I started it out at the beginning of the month, but I got hurt on the first weekend of the month and haven’t picked it up again! Time to start again…

Here’s how things are going for me. On October 13, I decided to stop fighting my gut instincts and go gluten free to try to help with some health issues I’ve been having. I’m excited to see what it does for my weight and my overall health. It’s already helping with my stomach bloating issues and it’s beginning to help with some inflammation I’ve been having in my hands and feet on my long training walks. I’ve been told it will probably take a month or two to completely feel the effects of getting all the gluten out of my system, so I don’t know what the long term plan is but I do know that I am going to remain gluten free till after I get back from my Susan G. Komen 3-Day in San Diego, which is a month away now!!

I’m also planning to ditch the sugar again, which should significantly help in my weight loss goals. It’s out there in writing now, so it will happen!

One last order of business for today. Our social media sister, Trish who keeps our Facebook and Twitter pages running so smoothly, as well as creates these wonderful Sisterhood Shots calendars each month (and so much, much more!) is dealing with a crisis in her family! Her 17 year old son was in a terrible car accident last Wednesday. He’s still in very serious condition, so we are asking for some prayers, good vibes, and good thoughts to come to them! If you’ve noticed our Facebook page has been a bit less active than normal that’s why! We promise it will get back to normal as soon as possible! In the meantime, we are praying for Trish and her family!!
