Today’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide for the Runner Sneak Peak: Ruby’s Lube and Nuun!
First up is a product new to me – Ruby’s Lube. If you are a runner, walker, or cyclist, you know that chafing is a literal pain. I have some major marathon tattoos from chafing, which is no fun. Ruby’s Lube is an all-natural anti-chafe balm that is designed to be water and sweat resistant, so it’s great for athletes and swimmers. It is made up of only 5 ingredients: olive oil, lemongrass, calendula, beeswax, and benzoin. It has a great citrus fragrance from the lemongrass and is non-irritating. In addition to using it pre-workout to prevent chafing, it can be used after on any spots you may have missed. Ruby’s Lube is also great for the whole family as a heavy-duty lotion. I’ve tried it for a couple runs and have no new chafing to report (although, these were shorter runs – my post-marathon legs aren’t ready for double digits again yet). I’ve also been using it on a spot on my leg that gets very dry and it’s helping to heal the area. I would caution you, it is a very thick balm and a little goes a long way. Soap and water is needed to remove the lotion from your hands, which goes to show how water-resistant it really is. One winner to our gift guide (coming around Thanksgiving) will receive a tube of Ruby’s Lube! You can find Ruby’s Lube here and on Facebook. A tube of Ruby’s Lube is around $13 from their website, but they are also located in a number of retail locations.
The next product I get to tell you about is really like an old friend. I’ve been using Nuun Hydration pretty much as long as I’ve been running. Nuun (pronounced “noon”) is my go-to hydration in the summer months when I need some extra electrolytes (because I don’t glisten, I SWEAT) and I love the variety of flavors they offer – my current favorite is Strawberry Lemonade. Nuun is also just a great substitute for sugary drinks and like they say, a way to “one up your water”. Most sports drinks result in GI problems, but because Nuun is sugar and carb free, I think it sits better on my stomach. Nuun comes in several different varieties based on your needs: Active Hydration, U Natural Hydration, and Nuun All Day. Which Nuun product is right for you? Check them out here to find out. Nuun ranges from $24 to $30 for a 4 pack and is also available in single tubes at many retail locations. Be sure to give Nuun some love on Facebook and Twitter because they are going to be giving away Nuun Hydration tablets to one of our lucky readers during the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway!
Make sure you keep an eye on The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans because we have many more products which will be featured in our upcoming 2014 Holiday Gift Guide post (due around Thanksgiving)!
