Holy cats! Are you getting as excited for our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide as I am? The giveaway is going to be MONUMENTAL this year! I’m back featuring another 2014 Holiday Gift Guide for the Runner Sneak Peek: Balega Socks, Larabar, and Running on the Wall. Seriously awesome stuff and I’m so blessed to get to review it all and share my reviews with you.
First up: Balega Socks
As a runner, I am VERY picky about the socks I wear. For regular working out, I find it doesn’t matter, but for running your socks can be the difference between a great run and a terrible one. Wear the wrong socks and you could end up with a nasty set of blisters! Balega offers a variety of thicknesses and styles depending upon individual preferences. According to their website, Balega is “passionate about our products and believe that their performance and fit characteristics make them unique to the US market. They offer real benefits to athletes of all ages and abilities. All of our socks incorporate a hand linked toe closure which eliminates abrasion across the top of the foot. We also knit an extra deep heel pocket, or ‘Fit Well’, ensuring that our socks fit the foot perfectly and don’t slide during activity.” I was given a pair of the Hidden Contour style to try out and they were very comfortable on my 3 mile run. Not even a hint of a hot spot. They range from $5.50 for kids socks to around $17.00 for their more technical styles. Balega socks can be found here as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
The next company is one near and dear to my heart (or should I say stomach?). Since transitioning to a paleo-ish and largely gluten-free lifestyle, finding runner-friendly snacks has been a bit of a challenge. Enter in Larabar! I love their snack and protein bars and eat them often to either fuel up for a run or replace some of the calories I’ve burned. All of their flavors contain between 2 and 9 natural ingredients – usually nuts, fruits, seeds, and non-GMO protein sources such as peas! They are all gluten-free and many are also dairy-free and vegan as well. Larabar is going to give away a 16 bar sample pack to one of our lucky readers as part of the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide (coming around Thanksgiving)! I wish I was eligible to win :) I’ve definitely been finding some new favorite flavors – the Carrot Cake is excellent and Key Lime Pie was so yummy, too! Please show Larabar some social media love on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest and even sign up for their eNewsletter if you’d like.
Last but not least, Running on the Wall will be providing two $40 gift cards, one to be used for a medal holder and another for a shirt/necklace/bracelet choice! They sent me a tank top, necklace and wrist band, while Lisa got an awesome new medal holder to review. My running tank is super cute and was comfortable for a short run. It’s a longer style and I think ran a touch big (I had a medium). The necklace is beautiful and the one I picked out (Chevron 26.2) was a great reward for completing my second marathon. The wrist band is soft and works well to wipe away sweat during your workout. Lisa loves the way her new running medal holder turned out. She says, “I absolutely LOVE my new race medal and bib holder. Since my husband and I both run, I decided to get one that we could both use. Interestingly enough, my husband was more impressed with the medal holder than I was. In fact, his words exactly were: I am pleasantly surprised. This turned out much better than I thought it would. We hung it in a place where we can both see it often. I can’t wait to hang our Austin Marathon medals from it!” Running on the wall can be found on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
As with all of our other companies, these products were provided to use free of charge to review but our opinions are all our own. What are you most excited to win so far????
