Have you ever been so in awe of something that you really didn’t know how to describe it? Something that had you so struck by the wonder of it because it made you so unbelievably happy. This is the feeling that I have had all week. I am struck by the wonder of turning 60 years old.

First, I am struck by the incredible privilege it is to turn 60 years old. I have learned in the last two years that everyone is not afforded that privilege. I have made it to 60 in a pretty healthy body and for that I am truly blessed.

Second, I’m absolutely blown over by the amount of love and kindness that has been bestowed on me this past week. To say that I feel loved is a true understatement. My family and my friends are beyond awesome.

Third, I am struck by the amount of pride I feel in what I have accomplished in the last year. I made it a point to step outside my box and try things that I hadn’t tried before. To go further than I had tried before. One day soon, I’ll make a list of everything I did. Gosh, I had fun!

Lastly, I am struck by the wonder of life itself. I have this beautiful and perfect family of 14. They are the loves of my life and they are all mine. How did I get so lucky? I have a job that I absolutely love and look forward to going to every day. I have gotten to the point where I love to work out. If I miss a day, I truly miss it. I love nature. I love to walk the beach and trails through the dunes. We went into Chicago last night and on the way there, the sun was going down and it was as huge and orange as I have seen it in ages. When we left to come home, the moon was just as big and beautiful.

I am struck by the wonder of my life. I am truly blessed. I don’t take that for granted. I know how lucky I am. Getting older has taught me many things, but I think one of the most important things is this….I am grateful. I am thankful. I am in awe of this amazing life.
