Kicking off 2015: Challenges, Goals, Changes | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

So, we’re already FOUR DAYS in to the New Year. How’s it going? How are you feeling? How are those goals and resolutions looking?

I have yet to jump into anything – my own personal detox will start tomorrow….the same day I start back at work AND classes start again. I thought I may as well pile all of it on at the same time (I’ll let you know how that decision feels in a week or so). I personally am just cutting out sugar, alcohol, processed foods, dairy (bye bye, cheese) and simple carbs (breads, pastas, etc.).

Have you decided on your one word to help define your 2015? Lisa here at the Sisterhood came up with the idea of a One Word Movement: pick a word to guide you through the next 365 days. As always, I ran a little behind, but did finally come up with mine: INTENT.

My goal is to live each day with intent and do things that are intentional to me and my life that will make a positive impact. This can be little things, such as getting to an appointment on time as I am a habitually late person (or picking my 2015 word for that matter….), not procrastinating on school work or reading, coming up with new, constructive ideas at work that I can put into motion, training hard (and smart) for the half marathons I’ve signed up for, mindfully eating (and drinking), etc. etc. All of these activities can just be done, or they can be done with intent.

Sometimes, resolutions can be daunting. If you’re feeling lost for motivation, looking for support, or in severe need of a swift kick in the rear, check out some of the great challenges we’re starting TOMORROW!

You can still sign up for one of our kick-ass DietBets – we’re starting two different ones:

If you’ve never participated it one of our DietBets, now is a great time to start!! It’s a fun, interactive way to help you reach your weight-loss goals at an achievable rate.

We’re also starting A Year of Small Changes based on the book 52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier and Healthier You by Brett Blumenthal. Tomorrow marks the first day of the first week of the 52 changes, and we’re kicking it off with WATER!

We’ve all heard it before: drinking water is important for brain function, weight loss, physical recovery from activity, and for making sure everything works the way it’s supposed to. This challenge just starts it off with a friendly reminder and suggests drinking half your body weight in ounces of water. So, for an individual who weighs 150lbs, it is recommended for him/her to drink 75 ounces of water per day. For those of you who are also doing a detox, it will help flush all of those nasties out of your body, which will leave you feeling better. If you’re detoxing and don’t flush them out, they can come back to haunt you in a number of ways: fatigue, skin blemishes, body aches and pains, etc.

Bottom line: just drink more water. And for heaven’s sake, don’t count soda, energy drinks, or anything with caffeine as part of those ounces.

If you’d like to follow along with the 52 weeks of challenges, be sure to join the Facebook group and/or sign up for weekly emails for reminders and motivation!

Also, be sure to follow along with our TWO fitness calendars for the month of January – everybody’s favorite: Squats AND push-ups (have you done your 14 push-ups and 45 squats for the day yet?). You know you love us!

Dang we’ve got a lot of great stuff going on – and we can’t wait to see you be a part of it! Remember, take it one day at a time.

**ALSO, we’re only about 2,500 ‘likes’ away from reaching 100,000 on our Facebook page! Spread the word and help us reach that milestone! Btw – you all rock!
