One Word movement

I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions. Heck, I didn’t even go the goal route last year. In fact, I just kind of skipped over the entire hoopla of making a resolution, listing goals and whatnot.  I ignored it all and continued on my merry way, which is what I suspect a lot of you do, too.  Or worse, we make that lofty resolution and make a list of all these wonderful goals to achieve and we go hard and heavy for a few weeks and then slip back into our old ways.

I get it.  That is/was me.  Been there, done that.  Guilty as charged.

That is why I am LOVING this movement (that’s how I think of it).

ONE WORD. Three hundred sixty five days.

Choose ONE word to define 2015 for you….a theme if you will.  Something to remind yourself of what you want the days of 2015 to look like, of who you want to be be and how you want to live. A word to guide you through the next 365 days.

For example, my word is FOCUS.  This past year, I have found myself distracted and scatter-brained, with my head and mind in way too many things, spreading myself too thin and getting a whole of nothing accomplished.  I want to focus on getting tasks done (whether it is at work or cleaning the house), achieving my goals (improve my running pace, clean up my eating habits, be present for my children) and getting *bleepity-bleep* done.

Bari’s word is for the year is CHANGE. “I need to change my eating habits & with big changes of my kids moving away in the fall I need to embrace that change and find positives.”

Ann’s word is DETERMINED. “I am determined to not let “things” keep me down. I am determined to figure out how I need to eat, workout, and live life to the fullest that I can.”

Nancy’s word is EMPOWERED.  “This past year has been an amazing journey for me.  I’ve tried to live outside of my box as much as possible.  I’ve learned a lot about myself and had a ton of fun.  Turning 60 has truly been empowering and I can’t wait to be empowered in 2015.  I feel like I have the power to do anything I want.  I just have to want it bad enough.  Words without actions are just words.  There is nothing empowering in that.  2015 will find me empowered and unstoppable.”

Mary’s word for 2015 is HOME – “both in the sense of the physical pace in which I live, and metaphorically, ‘home’ as in my actual body and feeling good in my own skin and my body is my home and it is vital I take good care of it.”

Christy’s word is OVERCOME. “I must overcome all the obstacles in my way this year. Heal my feet, get my thyroid under control, and lose the weight that I was supposed to lose THIS year! It’s pretty much been a wash of a year with my health & fitness.”
