What is Stitch Fix?

Awesome. Stitch Fix is awesome. The end. No really, it is one of my favorite things. I am a super-busy mom to 6, which doesn’t leave me much time to spend on myself, especially shopping for clothing. The mere thought of dragging my 3-year-old and 1-year-old out while I peruse the latest fashions and try on clothes is enough to make me cringe and lock myself in the house for a week.

Enter Stitch Fix.

I have a fierce love for subscription boxes, and a few years ago, I happened upon a friend raving about Stitch Fix. It’s easy to get started -you just fill out your personal style profile, schedule your first fix, and then tear into it when it arrives on your doorstep a few weeks later. A personal stylist actually hand-selects five items for you based upon your style profile, requests, and budget preferences. When your fix is scheduled, you pay a $20 styling fee. If you keep any item from your Fix, this $20 is applied to your purchase. If you keep nothing, you lose your twenty bucks… wah, wah, wah. If you keep ALL the items, you also receive a 25% discount off all the items! You have three days to decide what’s staying and what’s not, then you just throw your return pile into a postage-paid bag and drop it in the mail! So easy!

When you check-out online, you have the option to leave feedback for your stylist –do this! It helps your stylist nail down your style and personal preferences. Also, if you find a stylist you love, request her on your next Fix! I’ve had the same stylist for months now, and I adore her. She does a fantastic job of selecting pieces for me!

Another tip: Make a Pinterest board with your favorite fashions and keep it updated. Link to it on your Stitch Fix style profile, so your stylist will have easy access!

At the present time, Stitch Fix only styles women sizes 0/XS through 14/XL. They have JUST added in maternity and petite sizing… so maybe plus-size is soon to follow?

My Fix

Tristan Crochet Detail Blouse by 41Hawthorn {$58}: I really didn’t like this shirt when I pulled it out of the box, and I’m sorry to say I hated it even more on! Nothing about this blouse appealed to me one bit. It’s not my style, not my color, and I quickly took it off and moved to the next item! Now that I see it in photos, however, I kind of like the color! Verdict: SENT BACK.

Willow Draped Cardigan by Pixley {$78}: My first thought on this cardigan was that it looks like a big, cozy blanket just waiting to be curled up with at a rustic mountain cabin. I like mountains. I like cabins. I love this cardigan! I mean, who can have a bad day when cuddled inside this sweater? It’s perfect for the wintery days in North Dakota, and I can also wear it on the chilly nights of spring and fall during the transitioning seasons! Paired with the Denna Skinny Jeans, it’s a definite win. Verdict: KEEP.

Murietta Knit Top by Loveappella {$48}: I first fell in love with this top when I found it on Anthropologie’s website last fall. I pinned it to my Christmas list for my husband and was a little disappointed when I didn’t unwrap it during the holiday. Or my birthday a few weeks later. To his defense, it was sold out online. Imagine my surprise when I pull the EXACT SAME TOP out of my Stitch Fix box. I love the colorblocking detail and the pocket on the front is adorable. Bonus? It’s only $48, while on Anthropologie it was $68! Verdict: DEFINITELY KEEP.

Denna Skinny Jean by Kut From the Kloth {$78}: I might have groaned a little when I saw that I was being sent another pair of skinny jeans. I held them up and my husband said, “Those look small.” After I slapped him, I tried the jeans on, and guess what? I LOVE THEM. They are my new favorites! Everything just works with these jeans -they are cute, comfortable, and fit perfectly in all the right places! Verdict: KEEP.

Kayleen Knit Top by Loveappella {$58}: I liked this shirt when it showed up in my February Fix, but it was just too big. I requested it in a smaller size this time around, and it worked! Verdict: KEEP.

Overall, my stylist did a fantastic job yet again! Thanks, Nicole!
