Try it Thursday

0

A while back, we used to have a feature here at The Sisterhood where on Thursdays we would encourage each other to try something new or share what new thing we’ve discovered that’s helping us to keep going on our journeys of health and fitness.

Some of these are new ideas to me that I am going to commit trying out for the next seven days. Some of these are things I am already trying and want to share with you. In no particular order:

In the apps category:

  • Interval Timer for HIIT Training and Workouts by Deltaworks. This app has been a God-send when it comes to running intervals and not wanting to be staring at a watch or clock on the wall or the mobile phone. I had used the GymBoss app for a long time until it was updated recently and I am not tech savvy enough to figure out how to use the new version. Now that I am using the one from Deltaworks, I may never go back to GymBoss. I can create customized intervals complete with sound cues and the ability to function along with my music playlists and I’m good to go. The app also tracks your workouts on a calendar which is a nice added feature. You can see at a glance how many workouts you’ve done over time. Love it.

In the recipes category:

  • This recipe from POPSUGAR has been a game changer for my mornings. I make up a big batch on Sundays and throw what I call my “oat pucks” into a Ziploc bag in the freezer. When the morning comes, I take out three pucks, throw them into a microwavable container with a little milk and off to work I go. At work, I zap it for about 3 minutes and add fresh fruit. Delicious and filling and it puts me on auto-pilot for figuring out my breakfast in the morning.

In the apparel category:

  • These socks from Wrightsock. Can’t say enough about how happy they make my feet! You know what they say, “take care of your feet and your feet will take care of you.”  These socks provide just the right amount of cushioning without feeling too thick and bulky on the foot. Keeps the foot cool and dry. My running store used to carry these but no longer does. Gotta love Amazon!

In the lifestyle category:

  • I’m adopting a new rule of no screen time at least an hour before bed. And getting to bed at a decent hour which for me, means by 10 p.m. Which also means, it’s almost time for me to hit the sack as I write this.

What have you tried lately that was new to you that you’d like to tell us about? I have a few more but will wait for next time! Now it’s time to hear from YOU!
