This post is all about new beginnings! The first and arguably most important beginning I’m going to mention is the start of my son’s life. Roman Gabriel was born on September 23rd at 11:13 a.m. after 24 hours of some very sucky labor. He was a whole 8 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long and looks like a perfect blend of his Mom and Dad. Naturally, that was the most painful and simultaneously greatest day of my life and I love every day on this new journey. He’s my favorite little man and each day brings new surprises.
I’m also in a brand new city. Back in April I moved from Cincinnati to Louisville to be with Roman’s dad/my main squeeze Danny. Even though it’s been 5 months, I haven’t gotten the chance to actually experience the city (I still worked in Cincinnati for a majority of this time and the last month of pregnancy I was basically just an eating and sleeping machine. No regrets.) Now that I’m finally no longer pregnant I can do a lot of things I’ve been dying to do. And that means a lot of new fitness classes! So far I’ve signed up for baby-wearing yoga, jazzercise, zumba, and some bad-ass martial arts classes. I’m also registered for two 5ks this Spring and can’t wait to start hitting the trails training with my pup and baby in tow.
Lastly, I’m going from a full-time student who worked full-time and had the diet and exercise lifestyle to match to a domestic engineer whose primary job is to keep Roman happy and healthy. This is such a change in pace for me in a great way. I look forward to being able to cook healthy meals for my family every night and have the time to work on myself in ways I haven’t had the time for in years. And excited to have such a great support system in place like the Sisterhood!
