I’ve been sitting here staring at my laptop for 30 minutes while I watch a Tivo’d episode of Storage Wars. Have you seen it? OMG, I confess that I’m addicted to it. You must see it, and lucky for you it comes on tonight right after our Tworkout. What?! Yes! Check it on Tuesdays on A&E at 9 p.m. CT. Then come back here and let me know what you think.

Okay, so this week, let’s change things up! Let’s confess, but let’s confess to something fun! Tell me your craziest guilty pleasure. Is it a crazy television show like Storage Wars or Pawn Stars (yeah, I watch that one, too)? Or do you read trashy romance novels? Maybe you’re addicted to watching Discover commercials on YouTube? Trust me, you’ll love ‘Peggy’.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZXZAlfykpo

So confess below, or write an awesome post about your craziness and share the link in the comments! Have fun with it!!

Do you remember when eggs were (basically) the Antichrist – cholesterol laden monstrosities that would certainly send you to an early grave? Well, research now shows that eggs aren’t all that bad after all. In fact, scientist use eggs as the ‘gold standard’ for measuring the protein quality of other foods. Yes, if you have a high level of bad (LDL) cholesterol in your blood, then you should watch your egg consumption (one large egg (yolk) contains 185 gram of cholesterol), but it’s hard to argue with these interesting fact about egg-cellent eggs!

Eggs make you skinny – studies show that when you eat eggs for breakfast, you stay satisfied longer, you consume less calories throughout the day, and over time, people who consumed eggs for breakfast lost 65% more weight than those who did not.

A lot of bang for your calorie buck – one egg equals only 70 calories.

A protein powerhouse – one egg provides more than six grams of protein, or 13 percent of the recommended Daily Value (DV).

They do a body good – egg protein has just the right mix of essential amino acids needed by humans to build tissues. It is second only to mother’s milk for human nutrition.

Eggs are cheap – averaging just 15 cents a piece!

They’re good for the little peeps, too - Children who eat eggs for breakfast are more energetic, more mentally alert, and stay full until lunchtime!

Eggs make kids smart – studies have shown kids who eat breakfast demonstrate improved memory function, improved grades and higher test scores.

Don’t skip the yolk – while many people think the egg white has all the protein, the yolk actually provides nearly half of the protein content.

Jeepers creepers, take care of your peepers! – eggs supply lutein and zeaxanthin, which may promote healthy vision.

Staunch the flow – one large egg contains 25 micrograms of Vitamin K, a key nutrient in blood clotting, about one-third of the daily recommended amount for women.

Incubate that baby right – one contains 251 milligrams of choline, an essential nutrient especially for pregnant women and women of childbearing age.

Eggs make you beautiful – eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamins and minerals.

I met Christy just a few years past,

and our friendship grew really fast.

She is kind and fun, and she amazingly

Gets quite pissed if you deny her coffee.

Now Christy, did you think you would live ever live that down?

Never! Ever! Not as long as I’m around!

And I can joke with you because I’m much the same way

Except I have to admit I was a little scared that day. (Side note: I will have to explain The Starbucks Debacle to all of you newbies soon!)

But in all seriousness, I’m very thankful for all you do.

The Sisterhood’s heart is much because of you.

We all appreciate how hard you work on this lovely site.

You pour much love and you do it with all your might.

So, Christy, we have something we want to say,

We hope you have the very best birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

A big thank you to Ann for choosing me for this! I am honored!

 Name: Mary P.
Blog: http://anotherstepandanother.blogspot.com
Twitter: @FiddlersBride
Age: thisclose to 44 (my bday is June 8)
Hometown: Baltimore, MD but I was born and raised in Suffern, NY

Tell us about your family. It’s me and Mr. Fiddler! We met in an Irish pub where we both play traditional Irish music on our fiddles. Guess you can say we fiddled around quite a bit : ) We also have 3 cats, Niamph (which is Neeve in Gaelic), Aoife (EE-fah in Gaelic) and Sophie.

What is your favorite workout? I love kickboxing and TRX, and also I am starting to love running, being a newbie runner.

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment? Hmmmm. Professionally. a few of my newspaper columns have won some awards, and some were on the national level. That still thrills me. Every-day-life-wise: I try to accomplish being the best wife, daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend I can possibly be.

Have you set any goals for this year? Surehave! Operation 12 Races! That’s my goal of doing at least one 5k race a month for the year.So far I have hit every month, albeit January was on a treadmill because the real race was snowed out.

Who is your best support in your healthier-living journey? Mr.Fiddler, hands down. Especially since he is the main cook in the family. He keeps me loaded up on fresh veggies and whole foods. Prior to meeting him I was Queen of the Ramen Noodle and Dutchess of Mac and Cheese!

Favorite songs on your iPod right now? I listen to Melissa Etheridge’s “I Run for Life” each and every race I do. I also love Sheryl Crowe’s “Everyday is a Winding Road” and I have some Zumba music on there that also keeps me going. I listen more to podcastst than I listen to music. Faves: The Fitness Boost, The Daily Boost and Morning Coach. I could go on and on about great podcasts out there for health and fitness tips/info or other podcasts for people who love books or stories read on the air. (maybe a future guest post!: )

Who or what inspires you? I know it sounds hokey, but I inspire myself at times! At the end of the day, it’s the individual who chooses to lace up the shoes, eat the right foods and keep going one step after another. That said, I am also super inspired by all of the women from my Tribe Green back during the Shrinkvivor challenge. We continue to inspire each other. In fact, all of the support here at the Sisterhood inspires me! And my teammates at my gym from my BL-style competition, which we won!

Do you have any must-have health/beauty/clothing products? Just my iPod for now! I hope one day to own an iPhone.

Name 3 blogs you love to read! oh gosh, just 3?! I love skinnytaste.com for WW recipes. I love Danica’s Daily, which is another blog full of WW info and all of Roni Noone’s blogs. Great stuff!

April Race

5 things we don’t already know about you!

I’ve done some stand up comedy and hope to do more of it very soon.

I get the hiccups every day. They’re kind of odd — they don’t come one right after another – just off and on during the day. And they kick up a bit when I am stressed out or on deadline. In 4th grade, I was voted Miss Hiccup in my class

I drove in a demolition derby once and won a 3rd place trophy ( this was for a story I was writing at the time).

I once pulled over a police car . I needed directions really badly, so I waved him over to the side of the road and got out and asked him.

I’m a National Public Radio junkie.

Congratulations Mary! You know all of us at the Sisterhood love you SO much, and it wouldn’t be the same here without you around!

Roni Noone. If you aren’t familiar with her, get to know her! She’s the genius behind Fitbloggin’, and in it’s second year, I cannot give her enough kuddos for pulling off the damned-near impossible. The venue was amazing, the food was great, all-day coffee made me happy, the sponsors were top-notch, and the smoothness everything ran with did not go unnoticed. As a prior conference planner, I know how hard it is, and she made it look easy! Thank you Roni!

The bloggers. I saw so many people I already know and love, so many more I’d been dying to meet. The love, support, and instant kinship was palpable. I cannot describe the amazing feeling of being surrounded by so many like-minded, supportive people. Look for a post soon on the fantastic people we all met and loved!

New Balance & Jennifer Keddy (and her team!) are the bomb. They gave every attendee of Fitbloggin’ a pair of Award Winning 890 running shoes – the lightest neutral running shoes in their class, AND a sweet ass pair of running capris – Go 2 Capris. My thighs have never felt so sexy in running tights, and with that price tag, I can afford to buy a few more pairs! The shoes are like wearing little clouds on my feet, and I cannot wait to run in them!

The Fitbloggin’ 5K was great! While it’s more of a casual 5K (no chip-timing or finish lines!), it is one of the most enjoyable races ever. Seeing so many people of so many abilities running together, cheering each other on, the high-fives, the love. It was empowering. It was also hilarious to see Thea running in a tutu. I’m just saying. And yes, I forgot my tutu, but quickly improvised and made one out of tissues!

The swag. It was awesome. There was a lot of it, including awesome hats from iBeani – they have hats & head bands (woot!) with built in speakers compatible with all of your music players! Seriously awesome.

The sessions & speakers. I wish I could have attended all of them. The line-up of speakers was mind-blowing. So many greats! With three sessions at each time slot, it was so hard to choose which ones to attend. In true Sisterhood fashion, we chose to divide and conquer! We’ll be sharing more on our thoughts from the Sessions at Fitbloggin’ later in the week!

SPEAKING! Yes, I was a speaker on a panel at Fitbloggin’. It was my first time in a speaking situation, and I had nerves equivalent to running my first 1/2 marathon. Being on the panel with @juliejulie from Chubby Mommy Running Club; and Kate Brown (@dailyburn), community manager of the Daily Burn, was amazing. I enjoyed every moment of our brainstorming sessions, and when it came time to hit the stage, I looked out and saw a huge crowd. Once I got past the shaking and found my voice, it was amazing. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support me. Looking out and seeing a sea of smiling Sisterhood faces gave me the boost of confidence I needed to succeed. Isn’t that what we’re all about here at the Sisterhood?

We all know that a good bra can either make or break your exercise experience. Have a crappy bra and you may have to “double-bag” the girls. That may be just as bad as a sports bra that gives the dreaded “uni-boob” look.

I admit it. I was a chronic uni-boober. And then I received this from the girls at Moving Comfort back in 2009:

My life was forever-changed. No, REALLY. My other sports bras have been buried deeper and deeper into my drawer. Since that day, the day I realized sports bras can offer support AND still allow me to retain my womanly curves, I have added many Moving Comfort bras to my collection and they are the ONLY bras I wear when working out. Last fall, I purchased the Maia in black, beige, AND white. I have also added the green and black Fiona bras to my stash. While I also looove the Fiona, the Maia is my ultimate fave so far. It has underwire cups, which for my size-36D goods, are fantastic.

Here I am in rocking my bra:

Okay, not really. {i wish} This is the Juno bra and I will let Christy tell you all about it!

Hi! This is Christy, and I only wish I looked as good as that chic up there rocking the Juno bra. I will say that I also love Moving Comfort bras so much. I’ve been rocking the Vixen and Fiona bras since I began my running career a year and a half ago. Let me just tell you that my boobs are so very grateful that I ditched that other joke of a running bra! Moving Comfort bras may seem a little expensive, but with proper care, they will last forever. I wash mine on the delicate/hand wash cycle and hang them to dry, and they haven’t lost any of their support in a year and a half.

I’m so excited to get to try out the Juno bra now! It combines two of my favorite styles in sports bras: the racer back, and the back closure! The cups are molded so you don’t end up with a uni-boob (shew!) and the extra wide straps have velcro adjusters in the FRONT. So convenient. And the girls? They don’t move an inch, even when I’m pounding the pavement for miles!

Moving Comfort recently launched an innovative virtual Sports Bra Fitting Room. The fitting room helps you find a bra that will be the perfect fit for YOU. Answer a few simple questions and VOILA! The website will show you a selection of bras that will help you perform at your best!

We are giving one lucky reader a chance to walk away of the Moving Comfort bra of their choice! How do you enter?

Simply visit the Sports Bra Fitting Room, go through the steps, and see what bra is your perfect match!

Then, go here on Facebook and leave a comment telling us and Moving Comfort what bra suits you and your overall experience!

Don’t forget to “like” Moving Comfort on Facebook {and us while you’re at it!}.

The contest will end on Friday, May 6th at midnight CT. Moving Comfort will pick the winner at random and we will announce the winner on this post the next day. Open to US readers only.

Full Disclosure: Moving Comfort provided Christy and I with bras for review. The opinions stated here are, as always, our own!

Be prepared, because I am going to overwhelm you with goodness today! There are so many things going on, and I had to share them with you!

First of all, our very own Social Sister Colleen is running in her very first 1/2 marathon this weekend AND she celebrated her ‘One Year Living Healthy Anniversary’ yesterday. Go read her story on her blog, The Fit Bee, because it’s inspiring and she is AMAZING and she has lost a whopping 91 pounds!

Anda, from Leaving Fatville came up with the most amazing concept and recently launched a brand-new website. It’s called the Great Clothing Exchange, and you might have guessed from that name that it’s a place to exchange clothes. All of us know how it is to shrink and shrink and shrink some more. As you go down with the numbers, so does your bank account because you have to buy new clothes to fit your new body. And then, what do you do with those now-to-big-clothes? Well, I’ve always donated mine, but now I can list them on the Great Clothing Exchange and give them a special new home! I can also look for smaller duds for ME! Genius, no?

Another one of our Sisters, Britt, walked her first 1/2 marathon last weekend – the Austin Livestrong Half Marathon! We are so very proud of Britt for finishing!! Go to her blog, Less Britt, More Life and check out her race recap!

I’ve been reading Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving–and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity (a copy I borrowed from Lisa), and it has to be the absolute best running book I’ve ever read! Lisa reviewed it last year, if you’re interested in hearing what she had to say about it! I love it SO MUCH, that I am personally going to give away one copy to one lucky winner!

To win a copy of Run Like a Mother, leave a comment and tell us:

If you could have one super-power, what would it be, and why?

For an extra entry, you can tweet about this giveaway. Be sure to follow & mention @shrinkingjeans and link to this post, AND come back and leave an additional comment.

Giveaway will end tonight at midnight PST. One winner will be chosen via random.org and announced on this post tomorrow! That link above, is an Amazon affiliate link, so if you click it and buy, we’ll finally be able to take that cruise we’ve been planning ;)!

And this Crispy Buttermilk Chicken recipe in the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Cooking Light is TO DIE FOR. Trust me. I made it for dinner last night, and it was so freaking easy, tender, juicy, and yummy!! My kids and I fought over who was going to get the last piece, and my son won! You might want to go ahead and double the recipe.

Photo: John Autry, Cooking Light Website

Hands-on time: 20 minutes
Total: 4 hour, 20 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients
4 (6-ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 3/4 cups whole buttermilk
1 large egg
3/4 teaspoon onion powder, divided
3/4 teaspoon ground red pepper, divided
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon celery salt
2 tablespoons canola oil

Preparation
1. Place chicken in a zip-top plastic bag. Combine buttermilk, egg, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper; add to bag. Seal. Marinate in refrigerator 4 hours.

2. Preheat oven to 425°.

3. Remove chicken from bag; discard marinade. Sprinkle kosher salt over chicken. Combine 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper, flour, black pepper, and celery salt in a shallow dish. Dredge chicken in flour. Place chicken on a wire rack.

4. Heat a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil. Add chicken; sauté 4 minutes. Turn chicken over. Bake chicken at 425° for 10 minutes.

Nutritional Information
Calories: 425

My modifications:
I did not have buttermilk, so I made my own. To make 1 cup of buttermilk, you measure out just under a cup of milk (I used 2%) and add in 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. I also did not use the ground red pepper, but substituted in some paprika. I also used white whole wheat flour as opposed to all-purpose flour. I skipped the putting the chicken on the wire rack (hello, something else to wash!) and I cooked it in my cast iron skillet and transferred it right into the oven, where it came out nice and brown and crispy.

If you’re still here, YAY!! Later today we’ll be announcing our next weight-loss and fitness challenge, which will start next Wednesday, March 2nd! Check back for the details!!
