Weight Watchers new Momentum Plan | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

If you’re an online Weight Watcher (and you’ve logged in recently!), you might have noticed some changes. WW has a new plan called Momentum. It seems they’ve done away with the Flex and Core plans, and come up with a new option that’s the best of both worlds. Something new and fabulous. Something that’s sure to keep me logged in to the site!

If you’re not a WW, keep reading! You might find reason join ASAP after reading my glowing review!

Upon first glance, the site is the same and all the tools I’m accustomed to are present and accounted for. But as I delved in, I found lots of new features I really like.

From the site:

The Momentum™ plan is built on a proven method for weight-loss success: burn more calories than you take in. Weight Watchers will guide you towards wise food choices, choices that will help you stay satisfied. And you’ll learn to be aware of those choices by tracking the foods you eat.

The plan utilizes these 4 basic concepts to help you stay on track: The Points system, filling foods, Good Health Guidelines, and The Weekly Points Allowance.

Not only can you calculate points, track your food and weight, look for recipes and build your own, and calculate and track activity points, and get your oil changed, but now you can also track and manage your hunger and learn how to develop healthier habits and get a pedicure. Okay, I’m only kidding about the oil change and pedicure! But you knew that, right?

The hunger tracking tool is very cool. There’s actually a spot on the Food Tracker where you can rate your hunger before and after a meal. The purpose is to look for patterns in your hunger so you’ll know what meals and food items are really working for you and not against you. Pretty snazzy! The only thing I haven’t figured out is where I’m supposed to analyze my Hunger Signals. You know, like the weight tracker gives you that extra cool bar graph with the fun stars when you reach milestones. I’m sure it’s there, and I’m just missing it. If you find it, could you please leave a comment so all of us will be in the know, too? Thanks!

Another new thing I really like is the Filling Foods list and icon. That little green diamond is the bomb and also my new best friend. It’s so nice to be able to click on over and find good alternatives to my usual foods. These filling foods are better for you, have less points, and will keep you fuller longer. Anything that keeps me fuller longer is good. Seriously. Did I mention I’m a boredom snacker? And the way they have the filling foods broken down into handy categories, including SNACKS, makes me very happy!

If you’re not into tracking points, don’t worry. By exclusively eating foods from the filling foods list and tracking your hunger signals, you can successfully lose weight using Weight Watchers Online. You’ll also still get your 35 Flex Points each week to spend as you like. So easy, no?

The only complaint I have about WW Online, and this is nothing new, is that the site is SOOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW. Is it just me and my ratty satellite internet connection, or do you have that issue too? Seriously, I hate having to wait and wait for pages to load.

Lastly, I’m really digging on WW’s 8 Habits for Success:

  1. Ask for help
  2. Learn from experience
  3. Manage your environment
  4. Manage your feelings
  5. Manage your thoughts
  6. Monitor yourself
  7. Prepare yourself
  8. Take care of yourself

If you’re not using Weight Watchers Online to help manage your weightloss, I highly recommend it. The tools they offer are invaluable and the recipes alone are worth the price of the subscription. Seriously. And their tagline just makes me feel better about the whole experience: Stop Dieting. Start Living. Can I get an Amen?
