Hi Sisters Everywhere!!!

I just want to say hi and I’m so superexcited to be here to share all my drivel with you!!!  First things first, if you are currently on your weightloss quest (and really, who isn’t?) I just want to say that this online community of bloggers  was my key to weightloss. Everyone sharing their been-there-done-that, yes-I-too-have-cried-in-the-dressing-room moments and being a support network and virtual shoulder to cry on, was more inspirational and motivational than anything I could have EVER HAD all alone, by myself, here at home!!! And it still is!! I heart you! So if you’re in it to lose it, you’re in the right place! Stay with the Sisters, we will conquer together!!!!!!  I promise!

A little about me: I have been blogging for a few years now and my blog is called Baby Tea Leaves. I am a tv newswriter/slash/journalist who decided to stay home after my first child was born prematurely. He’s now three and I have a 20-month-old. I had pre-eclampsia with the first baby and I gained A.LOT.OF.WEIGHT. And it didn’t come off before I got pregnant the second time and, well, here’s what that looks like:

Yama Hama. Not.Good. I know I shouldn’t say that out loud but to be perfectly honest, I really didn’t think I looked that way! I was feeling pretty good! The crazy pills just kicked in and my husband always told me I was pretty and I felt that way! But my jeans didn’t. My jeans were crying and begging me to stop the insanity. So I signed up for a 5k and worked out like a madwoman.

5 months later (after two 5ks), I got the guts to put myself in a bathing suit and it wasn’t all that bad (plus I live in Florida) and besides, sometimes a story is best told in pictures:

A year and a half later after 2 10ks, a half-marathon and my very first triathlon:

I share this because I spent so many hours crying. I have been there. I’ve spent so many hours stuffing myself into clothing and sweating in the dressing room, refusing to choose clothes that would actually fit and instead wear the same uniform over and over again because my stubbornness wouldn’t allow me to buy the size 18 that I really should’ve been wearing.

I’ve had family members not recognize me.

While I was running on the treadmill once, my Godson exclaimed proudly, “Aunt Christie, your chin is moving!” To which I replied, “That’s why I’m running, sweetie!”

Hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself…

So, because my metabolism stinks bigtime (all the good genes were spent on my 5′5” 100 pounds soaking wet sister-me not jealous at all), I get through weightloss by scheduling races that I am not qualified for. Like triathlons. HAHAHA!(People snickered when I told them what I was doing– who’s snickering now!) So if you asked me what  ingredients you would need to lose weight, I would say:

1) a support network like your family and the sisters here

2) a good pair of shoes

3) a race date.

OK so, finally, in the spirit of Weigh-in Wednesday, I’ve gotten a new scale. After the baby, I was 180 pounds if you were wondering. My new scale says I am 140.5. I am hoping to lose fat and build muscle and lose 10 pounds over the next challenge, that’s the goal anyway. I have scheduled two triathlons (I’ll explain more later but no, I am not a triathlete and yes, if you can run or bike or swim, you can do it too believe it or not!) between now and October 25, and I hope that will help me lose these pounds.

So hang out with us, the next challenge is just around the corner I’m so excited! Leave me comments, let’s talk! What is your starting point and how long have you been hanging out with the sisters???
