One day last week, I really wasn’t feeling my work out at all.  I kind of wanted to just skip it and forget about it.  But I didn’t.  I got my work out clothes on, filled up my water bottle, and popped a DVD in.

Usually on these days, once I get the work out started, the work out is great, and I end up feeling like a million bucks.  On a few occasions, the work out is fantastic and I feel like 5 million bucks.  But that particular day, a great work out was not in my stars.

Half way through the warm-up, I had to pause to go see why my dogs’ worlds were ending and what was causing them to bark like two insane pups.  Then, the DVD skipped, so I had to stop it again, clean the disc off, put it back in, and fast forward back to where I had stopped.  Then, my mom called.  Then the dogs were barking again and the DVD just stopped, and I couldn’t get it to work again.

By this point, I just wanted to give up.  I wanted to call it a day and forget it ever happened.

I’m sure we’ve all had work outs like this.  At some point in the work out, you just know that it isn’t going your way, and odds are it isn’t going to get better.  This is the point that we all make a choice.

We can either walk away and forget it ever happened, OR we can actually finish the work out.  That one little choice may be what ends up controlling your mood for the rest of the day.  We have the choice to let it control us, or us taking control of it.

So, what did I decide?  I popped in another, shorter work out DVD and finished.  I made sure that in that last work out, I focused and made every second count.  I took control, and while it wasn’t the greatest of work outs by far, I was glad I didn’t quit.

So, my question to you is, the next time you’re at that point of making a choice in your work out…what are you going to do?
