Thursday Three- I'm bringing it back! | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

Ya’ll will have to bear with me on this one.

The holiday season has been difficult for me this year.  I’m not sure what exactly it is…..I take that back.  I know exactly what it is.

I am normally a busy person.  Any day.  Any year.  I am busy.  I have three kids.  My husband works a lot.  There are many things that need to be done to keep our household running semi-successfully.  And then there is that thing called exercise/fitness/running, which is something I do purely for me and of which I am NOT willing to give up at any time.  It is a priority for me and keeps my head from exploding from stress.

So when December rolls around and my already-busy life skyrockets into the stratosphere of all-the-things-that-have-to-be-done-this-month and my husband is working even MORE hours because December is his busiest month at work and now we have additional social obligations blah blah blah and oh yeah, we decide this is the month we are going to put our house on the market and we’re trying to decide whether to buy an existing house or build a house and we’re looking at houses and real estate and meeting with builders blah blah blah…….

Yeah, I am stressed to the max and so tired and I really want to be lying in a hammock on a beach somewhere, with a margarita in one hand, a good book in the other and not a care in the world.

Doesn’t that sound nice?

Ramble, ramble, ramble.

What am I a getting at?

I need to remind myself in a bad way what the season is all about, what I am thankful for, why I am blessed.

I want to ignore all that other stuff and slap myself upside the head and say, LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN.  They are yours, they are healthy, they are wonderfully awesome.  And they are.

I’m bringing back the old Thursday Three (remember that?!)- What am I most looking forward to this weekend/Christmas Eve/Christmas Day?

  1. Hosting Christmas Eve dinner.  Yes, the preparations are a little daunting, however, once the guests arrive and the party starts, the fun times are ON.  I like to cook outside of the box for the holidays and this year, I’m going with a “Mexican” food theme, complete with margaritas. Hey, I’ve earned it : ).
  2. Watching my 4.5 yr old son open his Santa gift (Star Wars stuff- he wants it SO bad) and my 7 yr old daughter open her Santa gift (this total marketing gimmick toy called SQUISHIES.  Ugh).  I am fairly certain they will scream with delight.  The youngest of my brood, the 2 yr old, is getting his old toys wrapped up and given right back to him again : ).
  3. Singing Silent Night at church services.  Not me specifically singing by myself but the whole church singing.  It is my absolute favorite- done a capella.  Beautiful, touching, it makes me cry every single year.

OK, I feel a little better now!

What about you?  What three things are you looking forward to most this weekend?  Just leave your answers in the comments below- I can’t wait to read what everyone has to say.  I hope all ya’ll have a wonderful holiday……

Peace and Joy- Lisa
