Hey, hey! Did you read all about our girl, Monica last week? We had a blast getting to know her better! This week, the spotlight was handed over to Britt! Congrats, girl!

Name: Brittany Staires
Blog: http://www.lessbrittmorelife.com
Twitter: @gettinfitbritt
Age: 24, soon to be 25
Hometown: Lafayette, La– but soon to be living in Austin, Texas!

Tell us about your family: My family is great! Sure we’re all a little crazy– but whose isn’t, right? I’ve definitely had my ups and downs with my family. But, they’ve been there to support me along and encourage. I know that they want the best for me and that’s really what matters and what counts!

What is your favorite workout? Dancing of any kind and riding the recumbent bike. I definitely love Leslie Sansone’s walk at home dvd’s for when i need a good workout and i can’t get outside or to the park.

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment? Life-wise graduating from LPN School in January. health-wise– Losing 30 pounds in 2006– immediately following my grandfather’s death, my decision at that time to lose weight & join Weight Watchers was in part of him and partly because i knew something needed to change! This past year– it was making the decision for myself and not anyone else that i needed to change my health and my life! I started Ideal Protein last year and then came back to Weight Watchers! I knew immediately that Weight Watchers was the place where i need to be.

Have you set any goals for this year? I do! 2 fitness goals- walking a half-marathon in a few days, and i plan to walk the RNR Half-Marathon in San Antonio in November! Very excited for those! I’ve also set goals for my weight and to be in a healthier weight range. I know the weight loss will come with time. Each day i exercise and make good decisions eating wise, will only bring my closer to a healthier weight.

Who is your best support in your healthier-living journey? Firstly, my family. They’ve been supportive all along. At times i feel like they’re judging me– but i know they mean it in love. Second, all of the amazing, caring, awesome friends I’ve made through the weight loss / weight watchers / blogging community. They’re really amazing and have opened my eyes and helped me see so many things and have encouraged me every step along this journey.

Favorite songs on your iPod right now? So many! Where do i start?
Cajun/Zydeco: “Goin Down to Louisiana” – Cedric Watson / Corey Ledet; “Zydeco Gris Gris” – Pine Leaf Boys; anything by Josh Ritter, The Rocket Summer, Marc Broussard, and pretty much everything on my Half-Marathon heart pumping playlist 🙂

Who or what inspires you? The amazing bloggers and twitter people out there, who are also changing their lifestyles and making health choices. It’s so amazing to see the changes I’ve made in myself these last 10 months. Yes, I’ve gained some weight, but that’s okay, it’s going to happen. I feel so much happier than i did before. It’s even more exciting to see your own waist-line start to shrink!

Do you have any must-have health/beauty/clothing products? I absolutely LOVE my iPhone! It really is so amazing… it keeps me company and keeps me from getting oober bored on my really long walks. I love my Asics Gel Nimbus tennis shoes, they really are quite comfortable and fit my feet the best out of a lot of tennis shoes that I’ve tried. I loveeee my Champion duo-dry pants and capris! They keep you cool, while preventing the moisture that often occurs with chafing! I really would use and want a Garmin Forerunner 305, but i don’t have one yet!

Name 3 blogs you love to read! Only 3??? Gosh that’s so hard! (1) Well definitely MizFit, she’s hilarious and great, and an Austinite! (2) Maura, at Maura Me to Love- she’s absolutely honest, hilarious, crazy, and kick-ass! I look forward to whenever i see the (1) next to her name in my GReader! (3) Ben at BenDoesLife.com, he’s hilarious, inspiring, funny, and easy on the eyes! He’s the mind behind the Do Life Movement and has been encouraging and inspiring America for 2 years! Can’t wait to meet him this summer at the Do Life 5K in Houston or New Orleans!

5 things we don’t already know about you! (1) I’m a new Licensed Practical Nurse, still waiting on the licensed part though! I would love to go back to school someday for my RN and then work in Labor & Delivery and then spend some time in South America, Africa, Europe doing medical mission work. (2) I have this intense obsessions with Old Western Films, John Wayne, and Clint Eastwood– sometimes I’m convinced that i was born to live in the west 🙂 (3) I’m a very laid back person, but lately since finishing nursing school– I’m much more particular about things than i used to be. (4) Someday i want to own a fancy DSLR with lots of lenses, and have my photography hung in an art gallery, and maybe even own my own photography studio!

(5) Some people say i have a southern accent i don’t think so! When i go to different places, i hear the people and their accents, and i start to talk like them! It’s quite strange.
